I just tried this. Doesn't work for me. Won't allow me to write on the date.
I have 2 photos for example and I am giving them a changed date. Only one changes.Why?
I have been doing this for years in iPhoto, but doesn't work in Photos. So I end up changing EACH picture. Ugh!
Any ideas.

It does not work all the time. If dates of photos taken were before year 2000, I could no get all 4 digits in, does anyone have similar problem?

It just worked for me with a scanned file in png format and mac OS High Sierrra
Use the "too cool" utility called "A Better Finder Attributes". It is 15$ USD, very slick!
