Hi. i have iPhoto 9.4.2 and i have Yosemite. So i just found out i can't open this version of iPhoto and there is no update available for my OS which is 10.3.3. So to clarify, your post about obtaining the 9.0 update from a 3rd party like Amazon is irrelevant to my situation, right? As far as you know, is there no solution for my situation of needing to use iPhoto? Even though i think you said iPhoto 9.5.1 is needed to use the work around you described in another post, i tried it anyway, because i don't have anything else to try. I opened the package using control click, i went into contents > macOS and tried to make an alias from the iPhoto file (that says EXEC on it). i haven't made an alias in so long, i have forgotten how but i thought if i just drag and drop the file it would make a copy. That's what appeared to happen. On my desk top there was a copy of the file with a little curved arrow, and in the MacOS folder was still the original file. OK, good, so then i clicked on the alias file. It tried to open iPhoto but during the long process, iPhoto crashed, i tried again and it crashed again.
i just checked the Contents > MacOS folder and the iPhoto file is not there. Only the Google Chrome file is there now. I drug the alias file from the desktop to the MacOS folder and it was in there, but after closing and reopening the folder, that file is gone. I did a find file attempt. i don't remember the exact name of the file, i think it was just iPhoto, but it did have iPhoto in the name, and my search does not show that file. Is it now a hidden file, do you think, or is it destroyed or deleted by my attempt to see if i could somehow open iPhoto that way? Any idea? ave
Very discouraging. Will the loss of this file destroy anything important? might there be any way of getting that file back?
