the new iOS 8.3 - Mail Connection Issues

Since my husband and I updated to the new 8.3 our emails are not working. We get an error message that says:

Cannot Get Mail. The connection to the server failed.

We use Yahoo, Gmail and Outlook. Tried to have a chat with apple this morning however they kept trying to tell me it was my phone...anyone else encountering this issue all the sudden??

I have actually found a positive thing about this. I am guessing something was added for security and caused us to have to reconfirm. I am still agreeing that it is a bug.

I bought the Ipad for travel. I wanted it to be able to get free wifi at places on a roadtrip. I didn't want it connected to anything that I had personal and didn't like that I didn't have to use my password to get into mail. I have a computer at home for other stuff.

Now I know I only need the mail connected if I want to take a picture and send that via email. I am sure there are other uses but that is all I was needing. Now I got the picture released from my Ipad.

Also, it took great pictures which is something I didn't even buy it for. Then I was able to attach to an email and send it back to myself. I now have deleted the account from Ipad and it just makes me sign in and use password to get to my mail (yahoo account but same thing for google or others). Something a little more secure, if my ipad is stolen on a car trip. Now that mystery is solved for me too.

Hopefully the new version doesn't break something else 🙂🙂

I'm getting the exact same error message.

It started immediately after upgrading to 8.3 on my iPhone 6; like the first time I touched the mail icon a few seconds after the 8.3 update was complete. Mail was working just fine with no error messages with 8.2. Updated to 8.3. Error messages "Cannot Get Mail".

The message is lying to me. I'm getting mail; apparently without any problem. Just getting the annoying error message over and over.

Hi. I posted instructions on 6/7 in detail so I won't repeat but I had to go to settings delete the gmail account set up and then add it again. The place to add right above and hard to find. You have to have it connected to send pictures via email. I have had no problems since and it is a bug or some security feature added in the upgrade. Oh well at least I got mine to work now. Yes try to find help at Apple good luck. Anyhow I like knowing this now and see some advantages also. It is not always a good idea to have someone have instant access to email if the IPAD is lost and will probably delete my email account when traveling and possibility of someone stealing my IPAD in my car. You can always get to mail by going google website and signing in with password. Good luck.

I have this problem with the overall mail app as well. To fix the issue, I remove it from the multi-tasking screen.

Double click your home button, swipe up to throw away (trash), it will reload itself and work again. You may have to do this 2,3 times a day, however it is very simple and easy work around until Apple releases a perm fix.

Ive tried the gmail app. Outlook app. They still screw up after time. the conclusion I've come to is the iOS connectivity is the issue. The phone or iPad just goes to sleep and stops connecting. I've proven this I think with airplane off and on. When I have connection issues this gets the connection back solid. This is for network or wifi. At one time I thought the mail apps solved the issue and maybe they do longer but it's iOS.
