Music app crashes with IOS 8.3 after playing two songs

I just submitted this bug report to Apple:

I have a auto update smart playlist based on zero rated tracks with an album rating of 3 stars or higher. I play this playlist on random and rate the tracks as I listen to them. Since updating to iOS 8.3 the music app will play two tracks (which I have rated during the play) and upon the completion of the second track will crash or close out and return me to the iOS home screen. This is repeatable. I have music matched switched off and the playlist is freshly updated from WiFi update from my Mac.

Has anyone else experience something similar where the music app will close repeatedly after only playing a couple of songs?

Here's my experience. I had a recently played smart playlist that would auto update itself. After upgrading to 8.3, the moment I chose that playlist, the music app would exit and I could no longer start it. It would instantly crash every time. I also use Itunes Match. I went to my computer, deleted the recently played smart playlist, then recreated it. Problem solved. Cannot repro any more crashes. Using iPhone 6.

Here`s a solution,

1, go to iPhone music strage erase all music files.

2, You'll find couple of songs still remain . That's what problem people who iTunes match.

3, Turn on all songs then download only songs which couldn't erase manually.

4, Turn off all songs then erase it . now your iPhone music is empty.

5, recovered problem about crashes from smartplay list.

Alas I still have the same issue.

I have tried deleting my smart playlist and recreating and I have tried deleting all songs from my iPhone and syncing again but it still crashes.

My crashes only happen on smart playlists that use Track Rating = zero stars. This used to be a big issue with previous iOS (iOS 7 was terrible here) and was fixed with iOS 8. Disappointingly Apple appears to have broken track rating = zero again.

I am having these same issues, if I can even get to a smart playlist before crashing, I can play only one song before crash. I do not have music match turned on for this devise. Many times I cannot even get to a smart playlist before the app crashes. At least through these post I found I could play from "songs" , "albums" or " artists" via shuffle or regular play with no problems (as long as I get there before the app crashes). I will try deleting and recreating my playlists and see if that works.

Bit of an update for everyone, that may help.

I've found a work-around for my situation (that I detailed in my original attached post), i.e. not being able to play my 4 and 5 star Smart-Playlis - thought it may help some of you out there.

As mentioned by others, it seems me to only have affected my Smart Playlists.

If you remove these faulty Playlists from your iPhone, by de-selecting the relevant Smart-Playlists on music page, and then sync to iTunes.

Then, back in iTunes, create new Playlists (in my case 5 Star Manual) and copy all songs from original 5 Star Smartest to newly created. Then re-sync to iPhone, selecting the new playlist, and at least they become playable without crashing.

Downside, is that if you change the rating (in my example) it won't update, but still a way of playing my lost song selections.

Hope this may help some of you, until Apple get's it's arse in gear!!!

Regards

Since the upgrade to iOS 8.3 I can only play my smart playlists without crashing 10 seconds into any song if I turn off "random" play, and if I do not skip any songs. If start a smart playlist at the beginning and don't touch the phone, things work. If I turn on random or skip a song - kaboom, crash, and it never opens again. This is really quite ridiculous. What feature was added in the upgrade from 8.2 to 8.3 that would interfere with such a basic function as randomly playing a playlist or heaven forbid, skipping a song?

I too have had this problem with my "Recently Played" playlist. I tried the usual reset settings, then erased phone and reset, but nothing helped. I genuinely thought it was the phone so took it to my local app store twice. On the second visit they gave me a new phone. To my disappointment after playing two songs, the app crashed again and then when I click on my music app it crashes immediately without allowing me to click on a song.

Until Apple come up with a solution here is what I did. You can, as one user mentioned, go on iTunes and delete the playlist that is not working for you and create a new one and re-sync. Another option is when you click on the music app or the playlist that isn't working, you literally have a second to press the top left "Playlists" link that will take you back to your list of all Playlists. Create a new playlist with the songs that you want and that should solve your problem.
