So my intermittent connection problems seem to be related to iCloud Photo Library uploading in the background.

I can reproduce the problem by pinging an internet address (say www.google.com), Response times will be between 300-600ms.

Going to photos -> preferences, and "pause for one day" in the iCloud section will immediately fix the network problem. Resuming the connection will cause the problem again after 10 seconds.

Something for everyone else to try.

Sounds like apple did not test ICLOUD with outside the shop users (not an internal wifi connection) before deciding how it would synchronize. Note: all the internet carriers talk about is download speeds - not upload.

UPDATE -

This appears to work, its been running for just about an hour without problems and is (finally) correctly uploading my Photo Library in iPhoto with no wifi dropout issues.

1) If you have iPhoto open close it (note that I didn't have any internet connected to my Mac when I did this)

2) While holding down the Command and Option (or Alt) keys at the same time, restart iPhoto.

3) The pop up menu will ask if you want to rebuild the database, click yes.

4) Allow the database to fully rebuild itself completely.

5) I then shut down iPhoto and the other running programs and shut down my computer (you may not have to do this, but it can't hurt and its what I did)

6) When I rebooted my computer normally (and i turned on wifi and plugged in my ethernet cable to my router), everything started up fine and I have had no problems with dropped internet.

7) After everything booted up OK, I checked Activity Monitor and Airport Utility - nsurlsessiond is running, but appears to be running normally and NOT hogging resources or pumping out huge uploads

8) I then started up iPhone and watched (scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Photos) as my 10,000+ photos are slowly being uploaded to iCloud

Waiting for others to confirm this, but it worked for me.

Shout out to my ISP provider (Horizoncable) who came out on Friday morning and replaced my CAT6 cable and modem in an attempt to resolve this issue. They are great!

NOTCLOUDY - Apple has had 10.10.3 in public beta for a long, long time. I now don't think it is necessarily a programming error, rather something interrupted the normal update process for iPhoto after install, and it was this faulty database update that apparently caused nsurlsessiond to run amok (I'm speculating here).

Update to Update

Well that worked for about 3 hours. A total of 70 photos were uploaded to iCloud then things started slowing down, nsurlsessiond popped back up and started hogging bandwidth and then wifi dropped out. After nearly 12 hours the Mac is super slow and no additional photos have been uploaded and wifi drops out intermittently when nsurlsessiond is running.

Back to the drawing board. Hopefully Monday Apple will have some solution...

Beta testing of any robust operating system and/or software is only as good as the variety of testers. Obama care was tested with I it was 1000 testers on at the same - and blew up on first day because the designers never considered the load you would get in a short signup period.

I use none of Bluetooth, iCloud, iPhoto, or Photos, and I have the same intermittent wifi problem I've had since October 2014 when I first installed Yosemite. It hasn't been fixed in 10.10.1, 10.10.2, or now 10.10.3. I have a MacBook Air bought in August 2012, with a Linksys/Cisco EA4500 router using 5GHz network.

These are my latest notes (wifi up/down log) on my version of the problem:

Under Yosemite 10.10.2 I had no problems with wifi and bluetooth connections living in harmony. I use a Magic Mouse and a Bose Mini Soundlink connected to my late 2013 MBP. Since the upgrade to 10.10.3 i can not have bluetooth turned on and still maintain any data through wifi.

I have tried all the reported fixes that have been churned out, including the AWDL fix.

None have worked and everything was flawless up to 10.10.3

I have not enabled iCloud photo syncing.

This did the trick for me. I had no Internet access for more than 48 hours since I upgraded my iMac to 10.3.3 and my iPhone to 8.3 on Friday night. Saturday morning nothing worked and between Saturday night and this afternoon (Monday) I replaced my modem, had my ISP (Cox Cable) out to the house today and then bought a new Airport Extreme. Spent three hours on the phone with Apple and nobody could resolve it until I read this solution and it worked like a charm. I suspect that the upload of the photos to iCloud is swamping the modem's capabilities and causing packet loss or time outs, I really don't know. In any case, I have my Internet up and running now and I'm happy. BTW, the new modem was returned to the store but I kept my new Airport Extreme as my old one was a gen 2 (circa 2008) and was no longer supported. I mentioned this solution to the the WiFi support person that I last spoke to at Apple and his thought was that it could be a problem but he thought that it would cause one's computer to run slower but not for the modem to time out. I think he is wrong, at least in my case. I'll update as the next few days go by to let you know how it is going. iCloud is not getting my photos anytime soon. Thank you Ssh6.

I Installed on iPad 2 new iOS 8.3. Every day since April 8 my access to wifi decreases. It works a few minutes, stops, I go to settings, get it back on and about 5 to 15 minutes it stops again. I no longer get pop ups asking my address so I have to close web and go to settings. Before installing I read learn more and it said what now is happening worse than ever was going to be fixed.
