Slow Boot Since Installing OS X 10.10.3

Just so everyone knows and anyone who wanders it, Apple released an OS X 10.10.3 supplementary update that addresses this problem.

I had installed the supplementary update, but was still having the same slow boot up problem. dwb's advice about resetting the bootup disk did solve it though. I wanted to let other people know in case their update wasn't solving the problem, you may need to reset it like dwb explains earlier.

iHi I am having same problem I have done as suggested but in start up disk it only shows the macintosh HD OS X,10.10.3 is this what it should show as there is no other device next to it. Im not great at tech stuff sorry.

Yep, that will work. Some people named their hard drives, some haven't. Sounds like you just have the default name.

I didnt relise you had to hit the restart until I looked else where. Thanks for the reply its now fine thanks, I dont get why apple release these updates when infact causes more trouble than its worth.

Thanks, I had the same problem and the solution works perfectly. Now I just find the shut down a bit slower than before. Any suggestions?

Thanks a bunch. I was ready to put it back to 10.10.2. This worked great. I have also read posts and some people are saying their fans run constantly after this update and resetting PRAM fixed that.

another +1 / kudos to dwb for the answer on this. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why my brand new 2015 MBP was taking so long initially to boot up.
