iPad keeps rebooting itself after updating to iOS 8.3

Just updated an iPad 3 to iOS 8.3 from iOS 8.2 . Update took a while to install (over 20 minutes) and then the Apple logo appeared for a bit then the screen went black for about 10 minutes. The device was fine for a while and then started rebooting itself, hung on the Apple logo for about 10 minutes and now suddenly it came back. All apps were up to date. The device had not had any issues prior to the update. Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

I agree with eGanges that it is very odd that there has not been more comment about this issue of rebooting after updating to 8.3. I hope that I agree with the Ganges that it is very odd that there has not been more comment about this issue of rebooting after updating to 8.3. I hope that Everyone who has experienced this problem will notify Apple support as apparently Apple does not monitor this community site. I am confident Apple will fix this problem in their next update to iOS but let's just hope that they are aware of the problem.

greetings Turboflash. This seems to be a more common problem than was previously apparent. Might be a good idea to make sure you notify Apple support to be sure they are aware of the problem..and that it is not just an isolated event. It definitely seems to be related to iOS 8.3 update in my opinion.

Yes, I also still have the problem with my iPad 4 (the iPad is not even two years old).

The reboot loop occurred the first time about three to four weeks ago (update to iOS 8.3 was way earlier). I had the iPad running (it displayed a photo) for about one hour, then I closed the smart cover. When I opened it, the reboot loop started. I wasn't able to fix it with iTunes (tried everything from setting it up from backup to setting it up as a new device). At first I thought the crashes / reboots were triggered by the screen rotation, but then it just started crashing randomly (sometimes it is okay for 5 - 10 minutes, then it only works for a couple of seconds or starts a new reboot while already rebooting). The update to iOS 8.4 didn't help a bit.

What confuses me is this: two times now I have used the music app on the ipad and basically had it in ipod mode: I played the music both via the speakers and the earphones, with the smart cover closed --> therefore "no display" in use. And the ipad ran smoothly without crashes or reboots for over an hour until I stopped the music - possibly even longer. I also paused the songs several times via the earphone remote - no issue whatsoever.

Does anyone have any ideas? How do I best notify Apple about this problem?

Thanks!

Greetings Celelas. Sorry to hear that iOS 8.4 does not correct this problem. I have not yet updated to 8.4. For me to recreate this issue I have to be charging my iPad and then have the lock screen come on/go to sleep, then the reboot loop or freeze occurs when unlocking the screen or waking up the iPad. It seems the iPad must be charging at the same time for this to happen. I suggest you copy your post directly to Apple Tech Support on the official Apple web site to report this problem, as they say they do not monitor this discussion forum! (My guess is they do unofficially?)

TO help my situation, (iPad 3 with retina display iOS 8.3) I turned Auto lock to Never in General settings, so that my screen would not go to sleep while charging. I was hoping that 8.4 would fix this. Good luck, and hope this suggestion helps you.
