iTunes restored has lost my music and crashes every time I open it

Please help. I noticed my iTunes had disappeared from my PC (Windoes Vista) so uninstalled all iTunes related programs as per support page guide and then reinstalled. I then got the ".itl" error so added ".itl" to the itunes folder as per a web guide. Now when I open itunes it does nothave my music and then crashes saying iTunes has encountered a problem and that Windows will close the program.

What can I do???

Back again. I have finally got iTunes.msi installed - just kept clearing out and going through the steps over and over again. I now have iTunes but every time it opens it says Windows needs to close down as program doesn't work. Also can see that none of my music is on it - purchsased or imported from CD.

At least I have an iTunes link now - baby steps. Please don't tell me I need to start again - the ruddy PC may go out the window...

Hooray! I have iTunes back but not clear how. I created a new user account and this did not work. I then did a complete scan of my PC. This found no errors. But then, up popped Apple software update which ran through and then i had all my iTunes back but no sound. I ran a video from another site and there was sound so seemed to be iTunes but going back to iTunes it was now working. All black magic if you ask me.

Thank you for your patience, time and support - very much appreciated.

One last thing - my iTunes shows as being registered to two PCs. I know I had it on my old PC but that is dead and buried - is there anyway of deactivating the old machine without phsically having the machine to hand?

Hi,

I hope you can help. I seem to have a similar problem to the issues detailed in previous exchange. I followed all the previous advice and have recovered iTunes but all my content has gone, except a few songs purchased recently since most recent update.

I think much of the issue is the age of my PC - 32 bit Vista. I noted that the recent itune update is not actually compatible so when I had fully uninstalled the system of all itune related content through the advice in "second box" I installed the older 12.1.2.27 version via 7zip. This got iTunes back on the PC but still only shows 15 recently bought songs - I have circa 3000 songs + pics missing.

I then created a new user account. This has allowed me to access iTunes and gave me the option to import content from the cloud. However, content imported from old CDs etc is not included and the option to import from the cloud is not offered on the original user account. I can live with only one user account working but do I need it to be exclusive or am I going to encounter problems when I plug in my ipod/iphone (4)? If I need to remove itunes from the original account, can this be done in isolation to the new account and is it necessary - ideally, how do I get the two versions to both have content? All my non-cloud content is still on my ipod - any way of recovering to my itunes library?

Please can you help?
