iOS 8.3 update - No Data or Service

I just performed the iOS 8.3 update this morning on my iPhone 6 before work and it appeared to install fine while I was still in WiFi range. Now that I'm out of WiFi range the top left corner of the screen just says, "Searching..."

I've tried:

-turning it off and back on

-holding down the power button and circular button at the same time until it restarts

-toggling the data on and off in settings

-turning on airplane mode for 30+ seconds and then turning airplane mode off

-using an implement to pop the SIM card out and back in while the phone is on, off, etc.

Nothing is working and I am reluctant to do a factory reset. This same thing happened when I did the 8.2 update, but taking out the SIM fixed the issue that time.

No such luck today.

Any advice?

Having same issue since upgrade (??) to 8.3.

Since 8.3 update of my iphone 6 I can not get carrier service. Just says "searching".

The sim works in my old iphone 5.

Have done numerous restores, Network resets, Reset all settings.

Spoke to someone at Apple helpdesk & they believe that it is a hardware issue.

Funny how it was working fine before the update.

If it won't let you install 8.4, try a Itunes restore or DFU restore from Itunes. It will install the latest version automatically. The difference between the two types of restore if that the DFU will also re install the firmware. To put your phone in DFU and restore it from itunes, do the following steps:

  • Plug your device into your computer
  • Turn off the device by holding the Sleep/Wake or Power button and swiping it off
  • Hold the power button for 3 seconds
  • Begin holding the Home button without releasing the Sleep/Power button for 10 seconds
  • Release the power button and continue holding the home button until you get a popup from iTunes that your device is recognized as being in recovery mode.

When in DFU mode, your phone won't display the itunes logo, screen should be black.

I haven't tried updating my 5s to 8.4 yet. I solved my problem by getting a S6 and honestly, I'm pretty satisfied so far. I looked at the Iphone 6 but could not get myself to buy a third Iphone in 3 years. I doubt it will solve the problem, but I will try installing 8.4 from itunes on my 5s when I get a chance (will report on results). Most likely source of your problem is a burned chip in your phone (the one labelled D6). I think apple charges 250$ to replace it (pretty sure they will say that the fact your phone broke while installing 8.3 was a mere coincidence).

Good luck and hope the itunes restore solves your problem.

i have same .. problem i updated phone to 8.4

now it shows iccid number .. now getting the signal constantly .

check the iccid number showing or not .. any way it is not h/w problem because it worked very well before updating to 8.3

so give the phone to apple store .. or update your os to 8.3 if you can .. try it in dfu mode .. you can solve it

Thanks
