New Photos library doesn't show in iTunes for iPad sync.

After installing 10.10.3 and migrating my iPhoto library to Photos, it doesn't show in iTunes when I want to sync my iPad Air. It only shows folder sync option. I have tried creating new libraries from scratch as well as the migrated ones, preferences deletes, restarts, nothing helps. All my software is up to date, I use a late 2010 27" iMac.

Now, I have found a temp solution: Photos changes iPhoto's library extension from .photolibrary to .migratedphotolibrary. I changed that back, then deleted the often problematic AlbumData.xml from iPhoto library package and it shows in iTunes like before. But no similar fix for Photos libraries works. Any ideas?

I am just gobsmacked at how difficult Apple makes it to sync an iPhone via iTunes. It is a totally NOT user friendly system. I spent 2 hrs with customer service CHAT last week, then them going into my desktop. I ended up losing all recent text messages, and adding back EVERY PHOTO and APP I had spent hours deleting manually.

AND now - if I connect my iPhone, click on my device - it no longer shows "photos" in left hand column.

It is infuriatingly difficult to DELETE ALL PHOTOS on iPhone 5s. I've read the blogs, watched Youtube videos, I understand the difference between photos I took and photos I imported etc. I've have already manually backed them on PC. But no matter what I do I can't get rid of them on the phonce. I still have ALL the photos AND ALL the videos I keep trying to delete. I've tried turning iCloud off, turning it back on, creating another folder to "sync" them to, tried deleting via PhotoStream (of course I never get a red dot or trash) AND of course you can't just drag and drop.

Doesn't Apple read the blogs, google search and youtube to see how many ppl are furious. Eventually we will give up.

correct, I can see the option but it is not available for me to click on it. Perhaps because it is already selected as my system photo library. Also I have figured out that itunes is not recognizing my videos in the Photos OSX app. I currently have 2,044 files that I imported from my phone to my Photos App on my macbook. When I go to itunes to sync my phone and then click on the photos tab, It says I only have 1720 photos to sync. It does not acknowledge the 324 videos that are currently in my Photos OSX. So my fear is that if I ever take my videos off of my phone (to free up storage) that I wont be able to get them back on to my phone. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

You might be confused because apple spends more time churning out products now than supporting the infinite number if changes they make to each version of each product.

ITunes doesn't backup videos I guess because an iTunes backup is supposed to be an essentials-only backup. But videos are backed up by iphotos and Photos Mac apps. That is, if and when you sync with your laptop/Pc.

Imho, what apple should so is to put out a manual for most common scenarios.

In that document you would find a short story describing what a typical user would want to achieve and how to do so, instead of writing websites and websites of all the wonderfully and probably totally underused capabilities of their products. So if you are a user that uses the iPhone to take 50 or so pictures and about 20 videos a month and perhaps like to sync to your laptop and have an ehd but the free icloud plan, you sync your phone to photos weekly. This moves everything from your phone to photos. Choose the delete from device option which frees up your icloud backup. Now to get those pictures back on your phone, sync to iTunes. If you want your videos they will always be in photos Mac app.

Ok, thank you so much for your response.

I am not really following what you are saying as far the free icloud plan. And if I do choose to do plan and put everything on a ehd can I still choose to put those videos back on my phone at any time? I am just trying to make sure that once I take them off my phone there is a way to get them back on there. There might not be, I am just not sure. If you don't mind (Im not a tech savy person) could you list in steps what I have to do to set up the icloud method you described.

Thanks again
