Can't sync with the new Photos app?

Apparently you can't sync with the new Photos library from the Mac to iPad? You can copy photos from folders but it doesn't allow you to choose the new library. Am i missing something because this really doesn't work for me. I do not want to share all my photos with all my devices from iCloud. Its way too much data. I have only put a select set of photos on my iPad so now when I make changes to albums on my Mac they don't get synched to the iPad.

I am using Yosemite with Photos 1.0 (209.52.0) and iTunes 12.1.27. And I just upgraded the iPad to the latest iOS 8.3

iMac, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I had this problem after I moved my Photos library from a Mac mini to a newer MacBook Pro. iTunes would not allow me to select my Photos library until I had gone to Preferences in Photos and under the 'General' tab, I had clicked the 'Use as System Photo Library' button (which then becomes greyed out).

Same problem here. Cannot sync photos again with the iphoto-replacement fotos.app.

I think photo-syncing just got worse and apple wants us to move alle pictures (250 GB here) to the cloud drive.

Yosemite 10.10.3 with Fotos.app and iPhone 6 with 8.3

Yes you can.

Apparently, the Photos app does not appear immediately as an option in iTunes.

Quit all apps and restart the computer and try again.

For me this doesn't work: quitting all apps and restarting my Mac does not give me the opportunity to sync some albums from the Photos app to my iPhone.

I don't want to rely on the cloud: the networks in my region are too unreliable.

When I upgraded iTunes to 12.1.2.27 just recently, an option to sync with Photos appeared. Are you running the latest version of iTunes?

Yes, I use the same version of iTunes.

But no possibility to sync with the Photos app.

As I said I am running the current versions of iTunes, iOS and Photos and Yosemite. No, restarting did not give me the option to sync with Photos. So its still not working for me.

After setting in the preferences of the Photos app "as system photo library" it worked.

I checked the Preferences for Photos and the option to set the library as the System library is greyed out. I don't see a way to make it available. Its odd because my old library was imported and I do have all my pics in the new library. So I am not sure why its not giving me the option to set my system library.

The Photos app allows you to choose your Photo Library much as iPhoto did in the past.

Option-click Photos from the dock and select the location of the Photo Library there.

So re-choosing the Photo library worked and now Photos shows up in iTunes sync. The odd thing is that when I chose the library, in parens it says "(System Photo Library)" after the file name. So somehow by choosing it again, it reset it. But, if you look in Preferences, selecting the System Photo Library is still greyed.

I wish this stuff just worked. If I am going to download an update I want it to just work. Grr.

From Photos > Help > System Photo Library. Perhaps this explains the issue.

No luck for me. I have tried all the above, and still no option to sync with. all the latest software version. Very frustrating.

Re-Choosing the main and only iPhoto-Library as "System Library" did the trick this allowed me to sync. But how awkward it is. And syncing still does not work as it should.

It synced all my faces I did not select for syncing and I still wait for updates from Apple to make syncing photos and controlling what to sync functional. Now it is a mess.
