10.10.3 has broken bluetooth peripherals again

When first upgrading to Yosemite 10.10.1 I had trackpad and intermittent keyboard issues on my iMac. It was fixed with 10.10.2, but appears to be broken again in 10.10.3. I am going to stop upgrading on day 1 of these updates--always 1 step forward, 2 steps back at apple lately.

Just a (hopefully) positive update....

I've installed the first public beta of 10.10.4 and so far this has solved the bluetooth connection issues.... (fingers and everything else crossed)

With Macbook Pro Retina 13 in clamshell mode, the Bose Sound mini now playing flawlessly and the mouse and keyboard are both solidly connected with no drop outs or stuttering mouse movements...

I'll post back after a full day of testing should there be any degradation to the connection..

Okay this just worked for me as a fix, in case someone else is in the same boat.

Open a terminal and run:

sudo kextunload -b com.apple.iokit.BroadcomBluetoothHostControllerUSBTransport
sudo kextload -b com.apple.iokit.BroadcomBluetoothHostControllerUSBTransport

Then, I had to click on the bluetooth icon again and enable it, and my peripherals connected again.

Well, the 10.10.4 beta doesn't fix it for me... maybe the final release version will.

Anyways after my last post, I found this script that some fellow made which installs and configures a process called "sleepwatcher" to automatically run those commands upon wake. This is working for me automatically now.

Here's the github address:

https://gist.github.com/Tyilo/c92684d277acb62272b5

In case you're not a unix person, step by step here:

open a terminal window and run 'nano sleepwatch.sh'

copy the script from that github page and paste it into the terminal window.

Save the file in nano by selecting the terminal window and hitting control-O and enter.

Exit nano by pressing control-X.

run 'sudo chmod 777 sleepwatch.sh'

run './sleepwatch.sh'

now it should be working.

Cheers

Yeah, still having the same problems here too after the official 10.10.4 update. When I wake the macbook from sleep, the bluetooth peripherals are not connected and I have to run the little workaround I posted in order to get things connected again.

If I do a fresh restart or wake from hibernation, the problem does not occur. This is definitely a funny one but very reproducible here.
