after 10.2 update- imported clips displaying black

It worked for me. It took almost 3 hours for compressor to transcode the footage i needed, but it worked.

Could I ask how much footage and which version of Compressor? Thanks.

Oh, it was probably 50 minutes worth of footage total. Using the latest version of compressor

It seems that down-grading may be the only option at this point, assuming you made backups of your library's before the upgrade. Hope they remedy this soon.

Tom - i think for most people its gonna take less time to down grade than to trans-code all the footage for multiple projects,

I'm just thankful I have a Macbook Pro thats unaffected whilst they (hopefully & quickly!) resolve the issue

I Didn't think this problem was specific to some machines.

Tom, my point is that Apple's workaround is to downgrade. Yes this does work. This is surely just a temporary fix until they debug the code.

DDowngrading is one option, but not the recommended one. Hopefully you have or can get a copy of the older version of the application and a copy or backup of the older version of the library.

I'm sorry mate but these answers are not helpful. I have this problem also having shot footage at 60fps on a Canon 5D3 at 720p which are H.264. Some of the clips in the timeline are black some not. The black ones have a thumbnail and audio but will not play back. I am URGENTLY in need of a fix on this as I have to render out several projects I have been working on for clients.

What is the fix for this? Or when will it be?

Tom has been incredibly helpful and has gone the extra mile in testing clips and projects for some of us. As has been posted in this thread, there currently is no fix for this issue - only work-arounds. You can either follow Apple's instructions in transcoding all of your footage to ProRes via Compressor then re linking, or you can (if you backed up your copy of FCPX 10.1.4) remove FCPX 10.2 from your Mac and revert back to 10.1.4.

There is no other solution at this time that I am aware of.

I should also add that some people have had success by simply transcoding their media to optimised within FCPX. After doing this they've been able to carry on editing and exporting as normal. Have you tried that?

1st (and last time!) I've made the mistake of not zipping up and archiving a copy of the previous FCPX version before an update,

anyone know if its possible to source an official copy of FCPX 10.1.4 to reinstall?

I've now removed FCPX 10.2 and reinstalled 10.1.4 and everything works fine - if your using Panasonic AVCHD files STAY AWAY from FCPX10.2 !

hopefully they'll fix this soon, its been a good reminder never to update to a new version OS X or FCPX until they iron out bugs in the following minor upgrades
