iPad Message App Slow Response

Hello there,

My iPad Air 2 (iOS 8.3) is having an issue with the Messages app.

When I open the app to look at the messages I have, it becomes very slow and there is a lag when you click around and try and view my message threads. I've had this issue for over a month now.

I still received the new messages to this device but it can take a while to actually view them. Everything is working fine with the messages being delivered to my iPhone and Macbook. There just seems to be an issue with my iPad.

Does anybody have a resolution or suggestions to look into.

I've tried turning iMessages off in the Settings and restarting and turning it back on. But it hasn't cured the problem.

Same problem here, been happening for a while. Only on Ipad Air 1, no problems on 6-plus or old iphone 5 (functionally an ipod touch, now). It's gotten to the point where I just have to find my phone, Ipad is far too frustrating waiting for messages to un-freeze.

So did anyone get anything working? Or is this a known issue without a fix? iPad Air 2's are relatively new so I don't think they should be experiencing this.

I wiped the iPad (3, not Air) and that fixed the problem. It was the only solution that worked. Note that I did try a Restore from Backup option but this only recreated the problem (as suspected), so I had to just wipe it and start clean. It was a pain in the *** but it worked.

Incidentally, the iPad developed other problems with iOS 9, and it began to lag so much that I surrendered and bought an iPad mini 4, which is a massive difference in speed.

I Had this issue for about 2 weeks. Finally found the fix on my own

General > reset > Home Screen Reset
