Podcast's not downloading

At first, I rebooted and downloads started OK. I later found that you just need to go to the menu options for each podcast and pick "Cancel Download" and then open the menu again and pick "Download Episode".

same issue here, if I clear the downloads that are pending (delete from the download queue) then go and select each one I want manually and choose download it will work. You don't have to turn the phone off/on or hit airplane mode off and on.

Having this problem too. It does work to restart phone but it's getting a little irritating having to restart my phone 5 times a day. Every. Single. Time.

I've had the same issue, ever since downloading ios 10. I've upgraded to 10.0.02, and the issue persists. Rebooting my iphone every time I want to download a podcast is a not a very suitable solution.

You don't have to reboot your phone. Just go to the menu for each podcast and "Cancel Download", and then pick "Download Episode".

I tried. It did not work. I try everything before restarting. I delete and restart, I turn my internet off and on again. Nothing works. I didn't think it was possible for them to make the podcast app wise but they managed it.

yeah that works, but i don't want to have to manually download every podcast i listen to. totally defeats the purpose of subscribing.

I've had the same problem since IOS 10. The temporary fix works but is kindof a pain to do for every podcast.

What i've found that seems to work permanently, so far, is to delete the podcast app and then reinstall it.

I did this yesterday and everything uptated fine this morning but be aware that it wipes out your settings and you'll have to do a little housekeeping afterwards.

This still hasnt fixed my problem

I have this problem on an iPhone 6S after updating the operating system to 10.0.2. Restarting and turning the phone off and on did not solve it for me, nor did the Airplane Mode trick. Any other suggestions will be appreciated!

Same problem here. iphone 5S. iOS 10 is what caused the problem.

Re-booting the phone didn't work.

Deleting the podcast from the download queue seems to work. When I go to d/l it manually, it looks like it is already downloaded. Almost like the d/l process just didn't finish the "I'm done" process very well.

All of these workarounds do not "solve" the problem. A little direct attention from Apple would be nice.

Thanks! That worked. Instructions for others:

1) Launch Podcast app.

2) Touch "My Podcasts" button at the bottom.

3) Note which podcasts are stuck (waiting) trying to download new episodes.

4) Touch "Edit" (upper right).

5) Touch the red "-" button next to each of the troubled podcasts.

6) Use search to find the podcasts you have deleted and subscribe (again) to them.

I was happy to see that I did not lose any podcast episodes through this process. Now the app is working, and downloading, without difficulty.

TThis is not a viable option for me. I have a giant list of podcasts. This would literally take me a half a day of work. I should not have to delete things to make them work. i don't have time to unsubscribe to every single podcast and redo settings for all of them. I listen to podcasts all day everyday and I have accumulated a lot of subscriptions over the years. Apple needs to come up with a solution to this. It's ridiculous. Each of their changes to the podcast app has made it a little worse.

Same problem. Cycling Airplane mode does not fix the problem. I have to do a hard reboot every time. This is exceedingly annoying.

Same problem. I restart my phone daily, doesn't do a thing. I plan to ditch this worthless app and go 3rd party. It was officially the very last stock Apple app that I had left on my phone because they all suck so much...
