Mail option is missing from share menu

I know this topic is about mail not showing up in the share menu for Photos, but the same problem exists in Finder. Mail does not show up even though it is my default and all.

I found this in the Apple support communities and it worked for me.

this has helped to get all share menu options

1. open the terminal

2. go to terminal window

3. paste the following link

and just run , finally you got all menu sharing options , it worked

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed

Had some company so I could not get back to this until today. Thank you very much. That was the kick in the pants that this Mac needed !!!

With El Capitan running for a couple of weeks now - all of a sudden the MAIL option disappears. I ran the Terminal command again and all was restored but not sure when or why we lost it.

Thank You SOOOO much. This problem was driving me crazy and everyone wanted to talk about other mail programs which I was not using. Hooray!

I have tried your solution by pasting the text into Terminal. I get "No such file or directory" even though I can navigate to it in Finder. Do you have any suggestions for me?

Disregard my previous post. I apparently had an extra space in the text. When I removed the space, it worked. Thanks anyway. The original tip was very helpful. I never would have figured this out on my own.

My terminal keeps saying No such File or directory

the extra space is in the word LaunchServices. When you paste, it looks like LaunchSe rvices.

The full corrected text to paste is :

/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -seed

Once I figured it out, it worked. However, the problem came back sometime later and I had to run it again, so keep this handy in case you need to do it again.

UPDATE- When I just posted this message it looks like this forum is breaking the line in exact same place (after the "e" in "LaunchServices", so it might be the forum that is putting that extra space in so double check in NOTES or some other text editor before pasting.

When I change my default AOL email over to Apple Mail, as soon as I leave the mail preference page it reverts back to AOL. How do I get it to stay on Apple Mail please?

Apple, this is beyond annoying. Please fix this.

I shouldn't have to insert Code in a terminal window just to drag and drop pictures from the new Photos App to either Mac Mail or even Gmail in ANY browser!

Just follow the steps in this link (If Share options or Markup is missing after upgrading to OS X Yosemite or El Capitan - Apple Support).

It'll solve your problem.

This did help but doesn't allow Outlook, only Mail but better than nothing.
