how to revert back to iPhoto from photos

I allowed my mac to upgrade last night and discovered this morning that iPhoto had been replaced with "photos" which is total crap - I can't edit my photos as I want any longer - luckily I have an old mac and can use that - this is a useless change of what was a fantastic program - Apple should have left iPhoto alone and added photos for those who just want to upload and print and make calendars etc - I intend to delete it if i can

MacBook (13-inch Mid 2009), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

I have no idea. I had it when I purchased mine 2 yrs ago. I had to go into launchpad and scroll down to iPhoto and drag the icon down to the others.

Did you try going to the App store to see if you can download it?? I don't even know if it's availabe.

Maybe someone more knowledgable here can help you.

Or keep googling...or call Apple.

Sorry, good luck!

Love my Mac though!!!!

Just a thought. When you say the edit options are crap, you did try and expand the edit options in the "Adjustments" section of the edit interface, right?

It's still not Aperture or Lightroom, but you get individual controls for exposure, highlights, shadows, brightness, contrast, black point, saturation, contrast, cast, intensity, neutrals, tone, grain, sharpen, definition, noise reduction, vignette, white balance and levels.

I didn't see these options at first because you have to press the little down pointing arrow next to light, color, and black&white, as well as add the rest of the options via the blue add button.

I also hate the new Photos app and I'm fortunate to be able to use iPhoto. I use iPhoto to import photos and make an occasional quick slideshow with music. In the new app, I can't find a way to bring in music other than from iTunes and the sample music. In addition, they now give about six transitions with no random button. In iPhoto, I could bring music in from my non-iTunes music folder and had a decent, not great, selection of transitions with a random button. Why make new apps that subtract features? I don't get it. I don't see any advantage of Photos and I agree that Apple sees it as a way to get more money for iCloud storage. I hope they make changes to the new app in a hurry, but I really don't think they will.

Yes, I found these too, and they suck. Not as much control over / ability to manipulate minuscule little details in the photos when it comes to lighting or tint. It's like they found out we were editing in a more user-friendly "photoshop" called IPHOTO and decided to squelch the fun! Been using iPhoto 7 years for all of my precious memories! Now, I'm forced to take better pics because the editing software in Photos *****.
