Hello everybody,

I don't know if anybody is still visiting this question, but I solved it.

check this out:

1 - go to you photos in icloud.com

2 - on the left you see sidebar that has multiple rows. Row #1 is called photos, row #2 album which is a folder with subfolders = your photo albums

3 - click on the row #2 that and now on the right (where you had your album opened a saw your photos) you should see those albums in an icon view

4 - simply click on any album you wish to delete and then on to top click on the trash can as you would to delete a photo

I worked for me. Hope it will for you.

I had a similar issue with ghost albums showing up in iCloud.com but not in photos on OS X or iOS. It seemed to be related to the conversion from iPhoto to iCloud photo library. While I was on hold with apple support, I noticed a folder in Photos on OS X called "iPhoto Events". I went in and there were all my ghost albums. I nuked them all since they were empty anyway and this cleared up the ghost albums showing up in iCloud.com. I'm not sure if this the same issue that others were experiencing, but I thought I would share for others that find this issue.

Hi all.

I've been having this (and many other similar) issued with the iCloud.com Photos app. It's been going on for almost 3 months and many discussions with AppleCare (who just put it down to bugs that need to be fixed).

I enabled iCloud Photo Library about 1 week ago and as soon as I enabled it, it brought back my old library but just the photos couldn't be found. I decided I had to give up worrying about the Photos app on there and just use it on my Mac and iOS devices where they all worked fine.

But today, something happened out of the blue.. The moment I have been waiting for!

THIS FIXES EVERYTHING!!!!!

As soon as the process finished, it removed all my duplicate photos, all my ghosted photos that just showed an exclamation mark, and ghosted albums/folders too! 😀

Now everything is perfect. I have my folders back, with albums actually inside them and not just sitting in the root, and all my photos are in perfect order and line up perfectly with the rest of my devices.

Before anyone asks, unfortunately I did absolutely nothing to trigger it. It was completely random, and it happened 1 week after I enabled iCloud Photo Library.

I only hope it happens to everyone else soon!

Good luck to all!

I have this problem but I don't have 650 albums. I only have a hand full. I started to merge my iMac photo's to that of iCloud.com. When I realised it was backing up all my photo's from my iMac to iCloud.com I didn't want this, as this will cost me more money for storage (and I already back up my photo in time machine). Therefore I turn off the icloud.com function on my iMac and now I have the phantom albums in icloud.com. Why doesn't APPLE GIVE US THE FUNCTIONALITY TO DELETE ALBUMS IN ICLOUD.COM???????
