After 8.3 update my iPhone 5 keeps freezing and reboots random

After the last update to 8.3 my iPhone randomly reboots or freezes w/out warning like in the middle of a conversation / while charging / while connected on iTunes to synch.... I don't know what the problem is. Please send a fix. I cannot rely on my phone when it keeps freezing and takes forever to reboot.

iPhone 5, iOS 8.3

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5. When it is plugged in it will reboot. Apple please fix this!

You are talking to the wind. Apple does not read or respond in this user-to-user forum. And there's nothing for Apple to fix without seeing your phone. Its a problem with YOUR PHONE, not something that Apple can fix magically from on high. So take your phone to an Apple store. Make a Genius Bar appointment first at http://apple.com/retail.

AM I correct that

- this problem became significantly more prevalent after iOS 8+

- no particular cause has been identified and Apple is maintaining its usual silence

- the only sure solution is a clean re-install, and hopefully you have everything backed up, or can create a back-up first

- Apple has God-like status

sorry about the last one 🙂

my situation is:

iPad 2, iOS 8.4, approx 1GB free RAM. Actually had to do it as clean install from iTunes via USB since it (seemed to) locked up during the upgrade.

Have recently installed Google Photo (replacing Picasa) and Apple Music, but problem pre-dated that by months

(I have relatively little music downloaded to my iPad, unlike my iPhone 6 with larger memory)

Problem continuing, worse than previously.

it also runs quite hot fairly often now. Not sure if that's cause or effect, if you follow.

Until I found these threads I was assuming it was simply an issue of the age of the hardware (see next comment) but now I'm unsure.

i am wondering about replacement and whether to go light laptop versus iPad, but that's another question.

iPhone 6+ with 8.4 is relatively problem free. Can't say it's never rebooted on its own but it's certainly not multiple times a day.

I have this issue since updating also. I am on 8.4 and it constantly freezes or zooms my screen so I can't even enter the passcode. The most aggravating this is it seems to impact my ability to use my new Watch. I am really upset. I even tried totally reinstalling a backup from my Mac and starting over and theat didn't solve the problems either.

I haven't been able to use my iPhone 5 after 8.3 update. First, my device did not find 3G network at all. After that, my device had a total freeze, touch screen did not react and power button did not restart the device. I tried iTunes recovery & factory reset, same problem returned. OS upgrade with newest versions also failed.

I thought for a long time, that my device just accidentally got broken at the same time when 8.3 update was installed. Reading the posts from other users for the same thing, this seems to be a wider problem.

Apple support vendor did not investigate if there was a physical failure with the device, they proposed replacing the whole device with full cost as warranty period was over.
