AM I correct that
- this problem became significantly more prevalent after iOS 8+
- no particular cause has been identified and Apple is maintaining its usual silence
- the only sure solution is a clean re-install, and hopefully you have everything backed up, or can create a back-up first
- Apple has God-like status
sorry about the last one 🙂
my situation is:
iPad 2, iOS 8.4, approx 1GB free RAM. Actually had to do it as clean install from iTunes via USB since it (seemed to) locked up during the upgrade.
Have recently installed Google Photo (replacing Picasa) and Apple Music, but problem pre-dated that by months
(I have relatively little music downloaded to my iPad, unlike my iPhone 6 with larger memory)
Problem continuing, worse than previously.
it also runs quite hot fairly often now. Not sure if that's cause or effect, if you follow.
Until I found these threads I was assuming it was simply an issue of the age of the hardware (see next comment) but now I'm unsure.
i am wondering about replacement and whether to go light laptop versus iPad, but that's another question.
iPhone 6+ with 8.4 is relatively problem free. Can't say it's never rebooted on its own but it's certainly not multiple times a day.
