Anyone know how to destroy this annoying popup in Safari? It occurs often and randomly--not specifically to any action on my part.

I have the same problem, password account notification, a popup from System Preferences, and sometimes at least one of my 4 accounts is disconnected in Mail. i already tried to log in the web mail, with all my accounts, it came back again and again.

What is Gmail Enhancement ? I am using 1 Password with Safari plugin, a link ?

Thanks

You mean this : "You don't have to close the account. I'm not sure if Google will even permit you to do so. You simply have to remove it from your Mac.

System Preferences > Internet Accounts > select the problematic Google account. If you are harassed for a password, click Cancel. De-select Mail. Remove the account using the [—] (minus) button. Confirm the dialog and the Mail account will be gone. If you are using iCloud it will be gone from all the devices using that iCloud account.

The email account will still exist on Google's servers though. For all I know it will remain there through the next ice age and beyond, dormant though it may be.

All of the answers here are more or less tangential and useless.

The root cause is a new "feature" that disables what google considers "less secure apps" by default.

To get rid of that pesky prompt go to https://myaccount.google.com/security?utm_source=OGB and switch "Allow less secure apps" to on.

If you can't seem to find the "Allow less secure apps" option, try completing googles "Security checkup" first.

The next time you're prompted to enter your google password should be the last.
