"Google Password Required"
Anyone know how to destroy this annoying popup in Safari? It occurs often and randomly--not specifically to any action on my part.
Mac mini, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Selecting "Allow less secure apps" in Google preferences does not fix it on mine(10.10.5). I think that deleting Gmail from the Apple Mail app, then just having Gmail forward to my preferred iCloud mail is probably going to be the solution. I'll get the Gmails, but all my replies will be from iCloud mail, which is fine...I'm hoping to switch all my contacts over to my iCloud mail anyway.
‘Google password required’ pops up when opening Mac Mail on Yosemite. Mac Mail keeps getting prompted my Google for password popup warning fix. Google keeps asking for password in Yosemite Mac Mail.
This worked for me:
Note: You should have all your Gmail email backed up in settings to ‘Enable IMAP’ in Gmail so you don’t lose your POP3 emails.
1. Open Mac Mail in Yosemite.
2. Using your web browser (I use Firefox) go to Gmail and log onto your account. > Settings >Labels >All Mail > untick Show In IMAP. Click Inbox to save setting. (Important step)
3. Close Mac Mail.
4. Open System Preferences in your Mac (in the dock) > Internet Accounts > Delete the Gmail account using minus ➖ button at bottom. (I’ve heard you can delete all your Gmail accounts here all at once, but I chose one at a time.)
5. Go to Gmail in browser > Settings > Labels > All Mail > click Show In IMAP> Click Inbox.
6. Open Mac Mail
7. Go to System Preferences in dock > Internet Accounts > Google > Enter Gmail address and password > Details to customize.
8. Close and reopen Mac Mail to test.
I kept getting this too. I have a MAC and went to my "System Preferences". I then clicked on @. When that opened, I highlighted the G for Google and unchecked every thing that showed up on the right hands side of the box. My Google is now grayed out and I am no longer getting the popup message.
For those of you who use a Mac and are receiving those bothersome and constant Google pop-up notifications that ask for your password, all you have to do to get rid of it without it affecting your Google accounts is to;
1. Open "System Preferences"
2. Select "Internet Accounts"
3. Select your active Gmail.com
4. Uncheck all of the boxes that are checked.
I have two Gmail accounts and unchecked the boxes for both accounts and I stopped receiving those pop-up notifications and it has not affected my Gmail accounts.
Best Regards,
Amadio
