Can't log into iTunes account (error 0x80090326)

Please Help!

I logged off iTunes on my PC and now can't sign back into my account. I receive the following error "We could not complete your iTunes request. An unknown error occured (error 0x80090326). Because of this, I cannot backup, update or sync anything. For what it's worth my log in on iPhone works fine. I spoke to level 2 at Apple Care for hours and nothing works. I'm at a loss. Any solution would be appreciated

Windows XP

I have tried the following:

installing and reinstalling iTunes

flushing DNS

winsock review and repair

repair of QuickTime and iTunes

ensured iTunes was selected as exception for Windows Firewall

Windows XP patch from 2009 (suggested in previous post)

Also uninstalled anti-virus, turned off firewall. Nothing works

iPod touch, iOS 8.3, null

Tried all the usual fixes including the various suggestions on this thread & others I've seen.

Does anyone know if Apple are investigating matter?

I don't often visit the store part of itunes, but today I decided to buy some things. As an XP user, it appears I'll have to hold onto my money a bit longer, as it threw an unknown error on verifying id after hitting buy. Like several other commenters, found this thread by googling the error code. If both itunes and xp have not changed in the last few days, then its likely its the software being used on intermediate servers. This could still be a few things, like encryption or loadbalancing where the data is either not recognised or mangled en route. As for updating to windows 8/8.1, really? you couldn't pay me to use those at home.

People that are able should probably report the issue here, then use iphone/ipad as a quickfix to bypass the OS, unfortunately the only physical apple device I have is an ipod nano :S

It's working for me as well. Most likely Apple fixed something on their end since it's working for other people.

I spent an hour on the phone today with Apple support and editing the hosts file was the final step that seemed to fix it. But further review showed that didn't make sense, since my hosts file was identical to the default Windows host file, and it still worked after I put my original hosts file back and rebooted.

Evening. Well I am now able to login with no issues. Diagnostics clear with no problems.

Wonder if the reason why no more problems is because Apple saw this thread....

Randomly when I checked for updates there was none.

For a minute was thinking I needed to upgrade my laptop which I have had since 2003. Have no desire to upgrade since iTunes is all I really use the computer for.
