Macbook Air (2014) Thunderbolt to external TV

Morning Apple folks,

I have a Macbook Air 11", and I would like to be able to hook it up to external T.V.'s or Monitors for presentations as I travel.. I see that Apple does not make a Thunderbolt to HDMI Cable, and I bought a Mini Display Port to HDMI, but the MDP is way to big for the Thunderbolt input on the Macbook Air... Even though I was told that the Mini Display Port & Thunderbolt Port are identical - WRONG.

I love doing presentations on this Macbook, but I have to be able to hook up to an external monitor for presentations... HELP

MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

Mini Displayport and Thunderbolt use the same size sockets. I have a Mini Displayport to VGA (my clients tend to be late adopters 🙂 ) for my 13" MBA and it works fine.

Are you sure you have Mini - D? There's also Displayport, which is (unsurprisingly) bigger

Marilyn, my apologies if I offended you unintentionally. I was trying to be completely kind with my words with no intention of hurting you, but don’t know why you found it offensive. Apologies once again....😟 😟

BTW, I really want to help you so can you post a picture of your adapter unplugged along side with your macbook air’s thunderbolt port.....??
