Why can't I post to communities using iOS device

Just curious why I can't post to Apple Support Communities using an iOS device. Maybe I am naive, but I figured....Apple product, Apple forum??? Figured there would be some compatibility.

I can read posts just fine, it's just when I hit reply, nothing happens. What's the deal?

FYI I'm typing this from my iMac.

I understood that you posted something based on your experience but you have to be careful when making such incorrect statements given your Level here and how others would view your answer.... Maybe double checking first and posting later would be more advisable..

That and the fact... it's obvious that you must be able to post to the communities via an iOS device and Safari.... Just think of the uproar there would be if that were not the case... I can only assume you have something configured.. or some other issue with your iOS devices, that prevents you from doing so successfully...

The reason I made my post so 'strong' was that the OP marked your post as being the one that solved his/her issue which would then quite likely mislead others into believing the same incorrect information...

Note: I've posted something totally incorrect and misleading myself in the past, based on my own experience and completely misled a user..... resulting in a very unfortunate incident. Thanks to some of the more knowledgeable people here, I learned a very worthwhile lesson in the process...

Anyhow... If you would like to discuss this further.... as this is not the appropriate venue for such an exchange.. I'll be having a drink later ... Just post up a msg there and Ill respond...

Otherwise, Ill consider this to be done.

Cheers..

A couple of things. First, it's not "obvious that you must be able to post to the communities via an iOS device and Safari...." There have been problems posting here with Safari for years. If that has been pinned down to now only being the case if and only if Safari is in Private Browsing mode, then kudos to Apple for overcoming these long-standing issues. I, personally, only browse the Web in Private Browsing mode, no matter which browser I'm using, be it in OS X or in iOS. Other, third-party browsers I've named, don't seem to have this issue, so, thanks to the OP, I've discovered another in a long list of reasons why I never use Safari in any context.

As for my answer being marked as Solved, that really has nothing to do with me. Just so you know, it was initially marked as Helpful (which it undoubtedly is, as it offers alternatives to posting here using Safari for iOS). It was (apparently) changed to Solved after the OP discovered for h/h own benefit, and mine, and others', why Safari does not work here if Private Browsing is enabled. Hopefully, others who happen upon this topic—as any topic here in the ASC—will read it all the way through and consider all of the information offered here before they make up their minds about what answers it contains that may be useful to them.

Have a great day!

FYI (to all)

I am on a Mac - Firefox(TenFourFox) browser. The FF "Private Browsing" is done through a "Window" - and I am replying here in that mode - apparently Safari is unforgiving about its "privacy" (tongue firmly in cheek)

When in this window, it is crystal clear that it is NOT Normal!!

Left = Private --- Right = My normal FF window

It must be that Safari-iOS has a different definition of Private Browsing? Of course, the pudding will be in the [Reply] button working... here goes

Aloha babowa.

Thanks for the added info. Until this thread I would have said the Forum works in Private Browsing using Safari. It had been my understanding that all Private Browsing does in Safari is not collect history. You even get a message stating that. That's also why I also double checked and tried to reply in private and couldn't. I had a hunch a setting might be the cause and why I asked if Reply was bright blue or slightly greyed out but never suspected Private Browsing. I don't know if it's by design or a glitch but from now on I know to ask.

Stay well. Bob.
