I can send Digital Touch, but can't receive. Any ideas?

Hi there

My partner and I both have our new Apple Watches today. I can easily send Digital Touch messages to her, she always gets them. When she sends to me though, I never get them. I do get messages and so on, but never Digital Touch.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

@DarKOrange: You said something like "Obviously it is not going to work", without really understanding the problem, which is -- almost everything else does work, so why the exception for Digital Touch? Hence people are taking the offense here -- it is not obvious at all and you came off like you're trying to lecture us. And how is your response going to help? The whole thread is discussing the fact that Apple ID was perfectly sharable for almost everything else and is not for this feature. Your response is just as good as -- hey just switch to Android -- not helpful at all.

The problem with having multiple devices ring when you get a phone call is an easy fix and not related to digital touch.

Try this: Settings > Face Time > iPhone Cellular calls to Off on their phones.

Now, my wife and I have shared an AppleID forever and we both now have apple watches. And, yes, the DT does the same thing for us, whereas we can iMessage each other just fine without issue. DT needs to be tied to the same email we are using with iMessage and this won't be a problem. Until that happens, we just have to get used to the fact that DT will send to both the sender and the receiver if they are sharing the same AppleID.

Had the exact same issue. My wife and I both use the same iTunes account. She could send to me, but not me to her. Kept getting failed to send. What finally worked for us was to add our AppleID email address to her contact record. Since we use the same email for our AppleIDs, iMessage, FaceTime and iCloud I was able to make the update to her contact record on my phone, and it sync' to her. Once she got the update to her contact record, she started receiving my Touch messages. One oddity however is that we both receive each message each of us sends. Hope this helps!

i had the same problem and after trying everything in this forum, finally i found the solution. What i did was exactly the opposite to the indications in one of the first responses.

in order to work, i had added an additional email address to my imessage account (just had one that was the same as my  id) and selected this new one as the default for send and receive. Then did the same in my wife's watch and now it works great

hope this helps, it seems there are too many different scenarios

my husband and i have just bought them and has exactly the same problem.. I have spent EVERY morning and night on the phone to apple for 4 days, save yourself stress and wasted time and read EJBOWES response... after a very frustrating 4 days, 5 mins after reading this and resetting the i cloud messaging, we were sending drawing/dig touch immediately.. Thank goodness i didn't make the long journey to the apple store and a day off work for a 5 min job- THANK YOU EJBOWES XX
