I purchased OS X lion for my old school macbook and was given a redeem code. When I try to redeem the code, it tells me "This item is being modified. Please Try Again Later." I've checked internet, did the updates on the computer and nothing seems to make a difference.
I have the 2011 MacBook, the last one with the white plastic case.

HT - for the mouse one, go to System Preferences and click mouse. Toward the top there's a checkbox that says "move content in direction of finger" or similar. Uncheck it.
The grey circles are telling you that version of the app isn't compatible with Lion. Check the developers' site for upgrades and you may be OK, though you may need to pay for upgrades of course. This is something to always check before upgrading OS X. Check this link - http://roaringapps.com/- to check compatibility.
Font and icon sizes are also changeable - open a Finder window. From the top menu select View>Show View Options.
No idea on your mail rules, but if you backed up your old machine you may be able to use Time Machine to recover them...
