Hi. Text & Email Notifications not showing on watch?

I seem to have the correct notifications switch on via the apple watch app on my phone, but they don't come up as an alert on the watch.

Any advice?

There was an article on AppleInsider.com about setting up notifications. It suggested that the notification has to be enabled on the iPhone, and that the banner style should be Banner. I went and checked my notifications, and several were set to Alerts. I don't know why this should make a difference (or if it really does), but I changed it anyway and notifications seems to be working. Here's a link to the article:

Folks,

I have not read the entire thread word for word, but have used browser find for " tap " on several pages, noticing that some have reported not getting tapped but receiving messages(notices?)

As ya'll may know there are reports of tattoos interfering with operation and also that the "TapTic Engine" was responsible for the delays in rollout

Apple Watch: Faulty Taptic Engine Slows Rollout

Wall Street Journal - 2 days ago

The taptic engine, a key component of the Apple Watch, made by one of ... That curbed the long lines and celebrations that often mark the introduction of a new Apple product.

... the so-called taptic engine, designed by Apple to produce the sensation of being tapped on the wrist. After mass production began in February, reliability testing revealed that some taptic engines supplied by AAC Technologies Holdings Inc., of Shenzhen, China, started to break down over time, the people familiar with the matter said. One of those people said Apple scrapped some completed watches as a result.

Apple doesn’t plan a recall, because there’s no indication that Apple shipped any watches with the defective part to customers.

[emphasis is mine]

The point that the esteemed WSJ reporter subtly makes is that it is entirely possible that ya'll have suspect taptic engines that are " starting to break down over time "

Still doesn't explain the all over the map "visual" notification anomalies though.

It will likely shake out - the price one pays for early adoption - take it from an Apple early adopter since my first Mac Plus (see Felix's head in my avatar)

best luck

I have just started getting this problem. Text messages are now alerted on the phone first (screen lights up and vibrates) and not on the watch. Once the phone screen dims, eventually the watch taps me and I get the usual watch notification. I haven't changed any settings. Am now trying restarting etc etc and may do a backup/restore tonight to see if that fixes it. I'm going to raise it with Apple as well as they need to know about these bugs quickly so we can get them fixed.

I had a problem with this and resolved it by changing the settings for messages and mail to custom. If I have them on mirror iPhone I get nothing as soon as I put it on custom worked like a treat. I also turned push data back on the iPhone. Another thing is that if you iPhone is open when you receive a message it won't ping your watch as it does not need to tell you. Another quirk I found is that my watch will delete all my mail messages when i remove them from my phone or iMac but not messages from this forum, not sure if that is because they form part of a chain of messages.

Hope this helps.

I am getting no notifications at all to my watch. Fine for the first day but since 1st May it's got steadily worse. Un pairing and re pairing fixed it - for 4 hours! Did it again and sometimes I got notifications and sometimes I didn't. Un paired and re paired another 4 times with Apple Support and still it was hit and miss. Now I've got absolutely nothing no matter what I do. The stand ring in the Activity app worked fine up until yesterday. Now that doesn't work no matter what I try either!

I get no text message notifications at all, although I've followed this whole thread and applied all the various fixes suggested. What makes it genuinely awful is that the messages ARE getting passed when my phone is locked, I just don't know it because there's no notification. So instead of missing FEWER messages, I now miss almost ALL my text messages.

This is unquestionably the worst problems I've had and I do not have hours and hours to figure out what combination of fluky settings have to be configured to make something work that ought to work out of the box.

If anyone has this problem solved, please let me know - in the meantime I'm going to have to unpair this watch and put it back in its box.

My watch notified me of emails for the first week or so. Then it stopped doing so for the next week. Then it started working again today. I made no settings changes of any kind during this time. This indicates to me that there's some deeper issue going on that can't be resolved by playing with one's settings. Maybe this is why there have been so many suggestions that seem to work for some people and not for others.

I agree as I have noticed the same thing. Notifications seem to work for a few days and then nothing for next few days. Also I had to reset and re-pair as my watch was in a state where it would not connect with my iPhone (tried everything). Hard to know if I have a 3rd-party app that is buggy or if the bugs lie in the iOS/Watch version 1.0. But my **** watch was froze up something crazy.
