I just got the apple watch and all the apps seem to work. But the default weather app cannot retrieve any data. I just has the spinning dots. I looked on my phone and the app works and has follow access to my location. The other weather app I loaded works great but of course I can't add a third party app to the watch faces. Any suggestions?

I just had the same problem with my new watch and was able to fix it without all the resetting and unsyncing stuff. My fix was to go into the Apple weather app on my iPhone and delete then reload my default city, in this case Chicago. I noticed that in the iPhone weather app all three of the cities I had in there were "stuck" and not loading current data or had corrupted data (It thought Chicago, New York and Cupertino were all midnight and 82º) . I deleted them and when I re-added them they loaded with current data which also then synced back correctly to my watch. It was way easier than a full unsync/restart and it actually worked.
A hard reset of the phone and the watch fixed it for me. No UN pairing required
No need to reset. Deleting locations in iPhone weather app solved the problem.
I've found that just rebooting my phone solves the problem. So much faster than the unpairing route!
Set your timezone (best to Auto mode). This fixed the weather sync on my watch, when rebooting both the watch and the iPhone didn't help.
I Went to General settings then to background app refresh then slid on/off slider and it sank to my watch
In the watch app "Reset synch data" erases all Contacts and Calendar Data from watch.
I went Weather app and deleted city that was out of synch between complicated view. Deleting adding back and then dragging default city to top of list fixed the out of synch.
setting default city can be changed by MyWatch>Weather>default city>current default city.>new default city. Default city is then checked.
I don't see current location anywhere.
I started from scratch. Also make sure that after unpairing, that you reboot both devices. Until I did this attempts to pair the watch always failed.
You mean the first display you see doesn't have that little location triangle/pointer icon? As I swipe through the locations I see the 3 cities I have set on the weather app on my phone with the current location one being shown first as it is in the phones app. On the watch you will see the temperature ranges and precipitation percentage arranged in a clock circle and when you swipe up you see the daily forecasts.
In the watch app on the phone you should have it set to mirror the phone's weather app. If your current location, indicated by the pointer/arrow or whatever it's called, is displayed there it should be displayed in the same order on the watch. That's the one whose temperature I have set as a complication on the watch face I use. Maybe restart your watch or both if you're not seeing the same as your phone.
Reset your iPhone? Reset your Watch? Oh ****, reset both of them.
Guess you are going to have to call Apple.
Same issue. Still can't get it working. Tried adding and deleting cities from Apple Weather App. Resetting iPhone and apple watch. Just spins and never loads the weather. Every other app works fine.
This didn't help me initially, but in conjunction with unpairing and then repairing, it fixed the problem. Which is good, because I did not want to spend my day resetting everything.
I just tried that and it still does not work.
I Couldn't get the weather app either. The location is set But I just get the spinning wheel.
Same problem here. Tried everything from restarting & reseting both devices to selecting default locations in the Apple Watch app on the phone. Nothing helped.
