Apple Watch Disconnecting

Hey guys,

So I woke up today, checked my Apple Watch and it had been 'disconnected' from my iPhone. I couldn't figure out a way to re-connect. I tried to reboot and hard reset both my iPhone and Watch but didn't do anything. I tried un-pairing the Watch from my iPhone but then couldn't re-pair. I also looked through the Apple Watch App on my iPhone and through settings on the Watch but couldn't find anything to re-connect them.

I ended up resetting the whole Watch, which meant I had to pair it all again and restore it from a backup. I was wondering if anyone knew how to re-connect them if they do ever disconnect again?

Thanks.

Another reset of the watch and it paired and connected again.

Every time I want to use the watch I have to go to Settings -> General -> Reset and let the watch erase all content and settings and reinstall itself. This is the ONLY way to get the pairing screen back up on the watch. The manual pairing instructions say to click the "i" next to your watches name in the device list .... but the device list is completely empty.

We have three watches right now, and only my girlfriend's daughter's watch works correctly. The other two have to be reset every day. All the activity has to be set back up and anything you logged onto the watch the day before is gone. The watch faces and such go back to the default and any custom watch faces get deleted. Same with anything else that gets customized on the watch. It all has to be set back to the default settings every time the watch is used.

I experienced this same issue. I noticed the Bluetooth icon in the upper right corner of my iPhone 6 "blinking" at times. At first I attempted to tap the Watch in the list of Bluetooth devices (within Settings), but repairing was unsuccessful every time. At that point I disabled Bluetooth in Settings, but the toggle to reenable it wouldn't work (I've never seen that behavior before). I rebooted my iPhone 6, reenabled Bluetooth afterwards, and the Watch reconnected. I hope this helps.

My solution: power down your iPhone, wait a minute and power up your iPhone. The watch should be connected again.

I've had this problem twice in two weeks for no discernable reason (and certainly not because I was out of range). The first time, I completely reset the watch and re-paired it. The second time, I did what I described above. It worked.

You are absolutely right. I have had my watch since august 5th and I had had to reset it twice when I had watchOS 1 on it and today is the third time I will have to reset it with watchOS 2.0.x. I like the watch very much when it is working, but I am not planing on buying one for my wife until I know the stability problem has been solved.

Just adding this here in case it can help anyone else... I was experiencing this same issue and none of the above fixes helped me. Turns out, my iPhone had not finished updating to the latest software update (due to lack of space on the iPhone) and was "in between" versions. This was causing issues with the Apple Watch and my phone. I cleared some space and downloaded the latest iOS update and since then, I have had no issues. Hopefully this helps anyone else with my weird edge case!

Mine is doing the same thing and I'm still have an issue, been about a month. I've tried to restore my watch to factory setting and repair with my phone, but still have the issue. I've notice the blinking bluetooth icon on my phone as well. My watch will show the disconnected symbol when my phone is in my pocket, but when I pull my phone out, the watch reconnects, making the watch kind of pointless since I have to pull my phone out for my watch to get notifications. I've also noticed that they aren't connecting over wifi wither. My phone can be in the other room at home, and I'll have the same issue as when the phone is in my pocket. Any suggestions? I might have to make a trip to the Apple Store, about an hour away to get some help there.

I just purchased an iPhone 7 Plus just over a month ago. I got the watch a couple weeks ago. The first watch lost connection, the time was moving faster (was 5 min ahead of phone when I noticed, by the time I got to the store it was 3 hours ahead of the phone) and the screen wouldn't respond to touch. The store shipped the watch to Apple and they sent me a new one.

I paired it with my phone and all was good. For about 48 hours. Then it lost connection again. Back and forth with support for over a day and they were going to escalate the problem to a higher level. In the meantime, I tried EVERY step possible short of wiping my phone (There's a lot I rely on and I'm trying to avoid a wipe). I've rebooted both devices, reset settings on phone, reset bluetooth, tried On and Off WiFi, power cycles, you name it. I reset the watch to factory, unpaired from the phone AND removed it from my account. I couldn't get it to pair back to the phone no matter what, repeating all steps above (Aside from Reset Settings on iPhone). One tech I spoke to said they heard of this issue with a corrupt contact in the phone. Since I use Google Contacts mostly, I disabled iCloud (I copied my contact data just in case to iCloud when I set up the phone). After doing that, boom. The watch was seen by the phone and I could pair it. I got excited. I made sure to pair the watch as new and not to restore from a backup and also to not install apps, just whatever Apple apps are on the phone itself.

Till now, 48 hours later again the same exact thing. Now I'm thinking it's something with the phone. Apple has run diagnostics (through chat support via WiFi) and said all hardware looks ok. But now I'm wondering if my bluetooth is shot, if something is corrupt on my phone? I don't know. I've done two iOS updates since I've had the watch, I've even updated the watch to WatchOS 3.1, phone is now on iOS 10.1.1, plenty of space on the phone. I've just updated the tech to the issues I just faces, a link to this thread and I'm hoping to hear back from him soon.

Recap: Watch disconnected from phone after 48 hours, time on the watch moving faster than phone (Now 28 minutes faster than phone), it's connected to WiFi (Cloud Icon) and I get iMessages on it, it also keeps asking me to enter my passcode whenever I tilt my wrist, like it doesn't know it's on my wrist as it's supposed to.

I'd love to sit with a higher up tech and figure out what this issue is, I want this to work I really do. I just ditched all of my Android gear and moved to Apple, this isn't helping.
