Anyone else getting a random "pop" sound when the screen comes on?

It's random and doesn't seem to affect anything else, but every so often when I raise my wrist to view, a small pop sound emits from the speaker. It doesn't happen every time, and the speaker itself works fine. The only water that has come into contact so far has been from washing my hands.

Anyone else experiencing this?

I have this happen too! 42mm Stainless Steel.

I thought at first it was just the strap or strap connectors clicking when raising my wrist to view the screen, but today I isolated it to the speaker on the device. It doesn't happen every time, but enough that it's a mildly annoying quirk.

Also, if I take my watch into a very quiet room, hold the speaker slits to my ear, I can hear extremely faint white noise coming from it when the screen is lit. So for some reason when the screen turns on on the Apple Watch, the speaker wakes up too, and when the speaker wakes up, it sometimes emits an clearly audible popping noise.

Also of note, the speaker functions perfectly fine when on. Notification sounds and calls sound crisp and clear, just for some reason it pops when turning on the circuitry that controls the speaker.

My device has never touched water.

Quick update. Spoke to Apple yesterday and they are shipping me a replacement watch. The rep said it would probably be here Wednesday. I'll let you know if the replacement is free from the issue. I'm not sure if it was just great support or this issue becoming fairly common but the rep almost immediately suggested swapping it out after I told him of the troubleshooting steps I took (reboot, re-pair, restore). Could not be happier with Apple's support.

Hi Guys

I'm having the same issue here (with a 42mm Sport). The latest firmware update didn't help.

Same scenario as described above: the problem is intermittent, happens no matter what the volume setting is, and is very quiet (only audible in a quiet or silent room).

I find it hard to believe it's a hardware issue though - surely for whatever reason, the software is causing the speaker to make the clicking sound? I would have expected it to be solved by the recent firmware update, and given that it wasn't, still think it might be solved in a future update.

However, I'm concerned that I am nearly at the end of the 14 day window to return the watch for a replacement, so I'm thinking it might be best to return it in case the problem does turn out to be a hardware issue.

What update do you guys have? DaytonaZ33, is your replacement watch still performing without the click?

Cheers,

Mike
