Apple Watch Sport screen scratched?

After 2 days of normal use and looking after my watch better than my own child I have found that when in direct sunlight i can see what appears to be a hairline scratch directly down the centre of the face. I just cannot understand why this has happened? nothing has bumped or came into contact weigh the face other than my finger, even at night when its on charge i placed it in an old pillow case until I can get a stand? Im very meticulous about looking after my products and find this very unsettling that its happened after 2 days. Its really distracting when I'm outside as the scratch scathes the light constantly.

Im sure if I go into the store I will basically be told its my own fault but what do you think my options are? is it possible that this was on the screen before I got it?

Just would like to know if anyone else has had this issue?

Cheers

So I bought my first apple watch second-generation a few weeks ago. Within 4 days I had a crack in it and I had done nothing gone nowhere and had it on the charger each night. I took it to the apple store and they sent it to apple. A week later I had my new watch. I have had my new watch for maybe three weeks now. I was downstairs looking at my watch changing some features. I got up and went upstairs and my iPhone started ringing so I went to answer it on my watch and realized the whole face was shattered! I mean *** is this??? I walked upstairs, touched nothing, didnt hit the watch on anything. Looking at it you would think that I had smashed it against a cement wall at least a dozen times. I love apple products, but I am really confused about this watch and its durability. I will again head back to the apple store...

I have an update for my brand new phase 2 Apple Watch. The one that basically exploded. I took it to the Apple Store and they said they had never seen anything like it. They said my battery had expanded which made thebfzce of the watch pop off and crack. How does a battery expand??? I do not understand this and how could I have caused this. Next they said they they were going to send it to the repair shop (Apple Watch graveyard) where I am sure many Apple watches live and die. Who sent me an email stating they needed to hear from me. I called them and they once again ask me how this happened. I told the man what I was doing or not doing at the time and he became very rude and said he didn't understand my language. I am like....what part of exploded on my wrist is hard to understand??? I told him i felt thst it was a safety issue so he promptly transferred me to the safety department. I spoke with a girl named autum who appeared to be helpful and concerned about my well being. I mean this is a bit reminiscent of the exploding Samsung .....yikes! Autum said she would send a message to the engineers who had a 4 hour turn around for a response. This was Friday so I did not hear anything until Monday April 24. I am not without my watch since Easter. The engineers basically said it was my fault and hey we're sending it back to me broken. Thanks Apple for your awesome product and your support and concern for my well being. Hello attorney general....I have a complaint my Apple Watch exploded on my wrist because the battery expanded and apple does not care!!!!

I had the opposite experience. I got in to online chat with an Apple rep and she offered me three options to get it fixed - Mail in, get Express Replacement (which I can do with Apple Care) or take it to an Apple Store to have it inspected. I'm taking it to the Apple Store. Yes, if they say it's accidental damage then I have to pay a service fee. But I'm all honesty if I did damage it then I'm responsible. If it's supposed to withstand certain impacts then Apple has to make good. It's all in where the responsibility lies. And no company will allow all claims. I'll just have to see how they evaluate it and what should be allowable.

I was told in the Apple Store it was scratch proof unless u used a drill on it I still have analogue watches from very cheap to simuler price to iwatch I've worn in many different conditions and non of them have any scratches on them I'm not anti apple I've had all the iPhones they've made

But don't believe there the rolls Royce of products

Please tell me where Apple (the company) advertised that the watch was scratch proof, as you originally stated.

"says nothing about the quality of the device'??

I couldn't agree less with this statement. I have a number of watches at home some ive had for 5 years without a scratch on them. My apple watch is 6 months old and has 3 distinct scratches on the face. Seems like it is much more susceptible to scratching than one would expect from a wrist watch

I was told by the Apple store at the Millenia Mall here in Florida that Apple will not warranty any watch that was scratched I have the Nike Sport watch. I even have Apple care and was prepared to pay the $79.00 fee for the repair. They said they will not replace the glass. Needless to say I am very unhappy with Apple right now. Perhaps I should have bought a fit bit or other tech watch. Its a watch screens get scratched, Casio will replace their screens so will all major manufactures. Not a very good choice Apple 😟

Same. I have scratched the face of my Apple Watch Sport this morning somehow. The scratch was not there when I put on the device 3 hours ago and now there is a scratch in the top right corner. I don't recall the watch striking or rubbing against anything. I am very careful with all of my devices. I have had 5 different iPhone models and never needed a screen replacement. I too find it very troubling that the device is already damaged.

What will it cost to have the screen replaced? I'm thinking about buying AppleCare+ for the first time ever.

This is quite surprising given all the scratch test that have been done by people over the past several days and posted online. Everything from cheese graters to knives, so I would be surprised and upset too. I haven't got mine yet and am debating adding one of the 3rd party protectors, but didn't really want to add bulk or anything to such a beautiful device so I was waiting for feedback from other users on this very topic, and the scratch resistance of the black since the black sport is what I ordered.
