Apple Watch Sport screen scratched?

After 2 days of normal use and looking after my watch better than my own child I have found that when in direct sunlight i can see what appears to be a hairline scratch directly down the centre of the face. I just cannot understand why this has happened? nothing has bumped or came into contact weigh the face other than my finger, even at night when its on charge i placed it in an old pillow case until I can get a stand? Im very meticulous about looking after my products and find this very unsettling that its happened after 2 days. Its really distracting when I'm outside as the scratch scathes the light constantly.

Im sure if I go into the store I will basically be told its my own fault but what do you think my options are? is it possible that this was on the screen before I got it?

Just would like to know if anyone else has had this issue?

Cheers

I was told by the Apple store at the Millenia Mall here in Florida that Apple will not warranty any watch that was scratched I have the Nike Sport watch. I even have Apple care and was prepared to pay the $79.00 fee for the repair. They said they will not replace the glass. Needless to say I am very unhappy with Apple right now. Perhaps I should have bought a fit bit or other tech watch. Its a watch screens get scratched, Casio will replace their screens so will all major manufactures. Not a very good choice Apple 😟

Same. After 3 days of careful use, I have several annoying scratches. I wouldn't have been the least bit bothered to buy a screen-protecting film from the Apple Store if they have even mentioned it may have been a good idea. Instead, I tried to take it back and complain, and they said $50 for Apple Care PLUS $70 for screen replacement. Ridiculous!!!! So I bought a screen-protector and put it over my scratches. But Apple could have saved me ALL of this trouble by simply suggesting I buy the protective film while I was at the Store asking to buy the watch. Grr....

Yes, I have the exact same issue and I treat mine very gingerly. Every night I clean the face with microfiber cloth and the back as well. Still I only purchased the watch in June of this year and I still have my iPhone 5S with absolutely no scuffs or scratches anywhere and no protection on the face! I am a bit disappointed that the face of this watch is already scuffed up with no contact with anything abrasive. I do have Apple Care, but hate to turn it in and wait for the decision and then get it back only to find that 6 months later it is scuffed again from general everyday use. Not sure what to do about it. What have you done at this stage?

I was looking for a solution about what happened to my Apple watched, when I found this page. just last night, I found out that my apple sport watch has 2 scartches. i was just so shocked. I have been using Iphone for many years and I never had any issue with the screen. I never put any screen protector. I am very careful with my gadgets. I am very disappointed because I can’t remember anything or incident , that may have caused the watch to be scratched :(

Yeah, I also have the same problem. I have an Apple Watch Nike+2 and there are scuff marks along some edges and one minor scratch. Have no idea how those got there and have only had the watch for 6 months. I baby all my devices and am not rough with anything. I also have an iPhone 5S, no screen protection and not a scratch on it. Go figure ... I have no idea why the Watch scratches or scuffs so easily.

I finally purchased a "case" which just surrounds the exterior of the face up to the bevel but not the screen since I didn't want to have any issues with accessing apps. I think it helps a bit to keep anything away from the main surface, but I wish Apple would make a screen/face that is more resistant to any minimal bruising from everyday wear.

Wish I had better info, but that's all I could find thus far.

I’ve had the same problem with my Apple Watch 2.

From my understanding, the hairline scratches referred to by most are in the coating of the class not in the glass itself. They can happen with normal use.

If you are like me and tend to be a little bit sensitive to those things and won’t risk it buy a screenprotector.

I’ve bought a new Apple Watch 3 and I have been keeping it stored till I receive it. I also ordered a case, the orzly invisicase is easily snapped on and off and will protect both the sides and the screen.

I’m planning to use the screen protector for normal daily usage and the case for when I go in situations that require me to be more careful. Like exercise f.e. Maybe this helpes somebody here.

Some people are fine with normal wear and tear. If you are not willing to risk it take precautions. If it be only for your own peace of mind.

Goodluck all.

Great suggestion but why should you have to wait to fit a screen protecter on an £300 or in Dollars to protect a brand new product when you can buy a Cheap £10 watch which after 2 years is unmarked, unforunatly maybe people will realise that Apple have created the idea that there products are the best to unable them to sell at high prices making huge profits while selling sub standard items

Got mine for Christmas. Have been super careful but still scratches. I have had a cheap watch and FitBit for years and they have plastic crowns, they scratch less. I took my Apple Watch 3 back for a refund. Not worth the price. I can't imagine what it would look like if I used it like my other watches. Come on Apple whats going on here?

Same. I have scratched the face of my Apple Watch Sport this morning somehow. The scratch was not there when I put on the device 3 hours ago and now there is a scratch in the top right corner. I don't recall the watch striking or rubbing against anything. I am very careful with all of my devices. I have had 5 different iPhone models and never needed a screen replacement. I too find it very troubling that the device is already damaged.

What will it cost to have the screen replaced? I'm thinking about buying AppleCare+ for the first time ever.

This is quite surprising given all the scratch test that have been done by people over the past several days and posted online. Everything from cheese graters to knives, so I would be surprised and upset too. I haven't got mine yet and am debating adding one of the 3rd party protectors, but didn't really want to add bulk or anything to such a beautiful device so I was waiting for feedback from other users on this very topic, and the scratch resistance of the black since the black sport is what I ordered.

My Apple Watch Sport scratched in less than 12 hours of use, and I did NO damage to it. I'm not sure how it happened, but I called up Apple and they are letting me send it for free to get repaired, or get a new one depending on what happens.

I have a bunch of Apple Products, and nothing has scratched this easily ever before for me.

Only sad part is I'm going to be waiting again for the Watch, after waiting 17 days to get it yesterday.
