Can you mute a group message on Apple Watch?

Only solve I've figured out is to turn on muting on the watch so it won't ding. It will still buzz you though. It's a thrill to get buzzed for three turkey icons and a bunch of hearts in the middle of a big presentation.

Also if anyone has any ideas on how to (politely and sensitively) tell an extended family that group MMS are sometimes not the best communications channel for everyone, considering how many of use use phones for work and play, ideas are welcome.
