The new NBC Sports App does not appear on my AppleTV menu although I have the latest hardware and software. The device is connected through Ethernet to a high speed network and everything else works normally. I rebooted the AppleTV as well and it still doesn't appear.
Any ideas why this is happening and how do I fix it?
or is it that the roll out has not reached NYC yet?

The support of NBC Sports was only announced earlier this week. It will actually become available on your Apple TV a bit later.
On one of my atv2 the app came up. I activated it with xfinity, gave me the ok. I browsed a few minutes and my atv2 restarted on his own and the app was gone when it rebooted.
Unfortunately I am having the same problem...i got so excited when i saw the press release saying it was available "now" -- unfortunately it is not.
I Haven't been able to confirm this but it looks like it's true -- they are doing a staggered roll out for NBC Sports, a few people at a time...I'm not sure why.
i Don't believe that it "crashed" -- live Extra has been available for iPhone and iPad for a long time now and so has their web service -- they all use the same back end...I can't believe that a few Apple TV users who actually clicked the app icon when it launched earlier this week crashed it compared to more than likely hundreds of thousands of web / ios users That have been using this app since it came out (months now), which continues to work just fine.
I Never had any issues with the HBO now app going away...it's always worked for me since launch.
OH well...guess it's AirPlay again for the Rangers game tonight. The crappy thing about using AirPlay is that while I'm airplaying it from my iPhone to my Atv I can't use the iPhone at the same time: I can't even put it in sleep mode Since the NBC Sports app stops playing video unless it's the only app open and in the foreground. Putting the app on the ATV seems like the perfect solution...guess I'll just have to wait 😟 /me pouts
Whats weird is I live in Columbia SC. One of my Apple Tv's has it and my other one doesn't. The staggered rollout is not going well. It should take hours not days to do. I'm still hopeful for Apple to do a TV service so if this is how they test to prevent this from happening in the future I'll take it.
Yeah, it's weird. My Apple TV 2 got it first and still has it. My Apple TV 3 got it last night, and I was able to authenticate, but it's been gone since this morning.
Wouldn't it be nice to at least see an official acknowledgment of the problem, instead of pretending it doesn't exist?
my two ATV2 have it now. No shoe on ATV3. All in the same LAN.
I was watching a Premier League replay on Wednesday on the NBC Sports Live Extra app, then last night I went to watch the second half and the app was gone. The weird thing was that when I woke the AppleTV 3 from sleep yesterday evening, the NBC app window showing the replays was still on the TV since I hadn't switched to another app. When I hit menu to go to Netflix, the app disappeared. I guess I'll check when I get home tonight.

Earlier this evening the NBC Sports App finally showed up.
I signed in with my Time Warner Cable account and it seems to be working properly.
If it disappears again I'll come back and share the news.

Same situation. I didn't realize howinch awesome content there is. I wish they had cycling as a sport you can sort by.
This is hilarious -- finally shows up for me, ATV3G, except when I sign in with FIOS all the live NHL games disappear And it says "No AuthZ"
This does NOT happen with the iPhone / iPad or even the web app with the same FIOS login credentials. Unbelieveable...
