Glitches, White and Green Lines in 2013 Mac Pro Exports from Premiere CC

Hello,


I have experienced the problem of having white thin lines at the top of my exports and also green dashed lines at the bottom of my Premiere timeline to MP4 and DVDs.


I am on a 6 week old 2013 Mac Pro, 3.5 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon E5, 16GB Memory, D700 cards, Yosemite and Premiere CC up to date.

I have the D700 GPU's which I've seen elsewhere other users having the same issue! In fact, there is a currently a large forum discussion on Adobe.com here: https://forums.adobe.com/message/7490236?tstart=0#7490236


However we need to let Apple know that this issue exists and is crippling many businesses as they cannot export movies without some type of major screen glitch !

I have the same Mac Pro late 2013 model with D700 graphics cards that you have. While I have not personally experienced this problem with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, this is probably because I do 95% of my editing in FCP X. I do know that the exact problems that you are describing and illustrating have been reported on both the Apple Forums and the Adobe Premiere Pro Forum for one year. During this time there has been many reports of late 2013 Mac Pro users having their graphics cards replaced (some more than once) without any solution to the problem. It appears that Apple feels the problem is Adobe's problem and Adobe feels the problem is Apple's problem. The unfortunate consumer who has purchased an expensive Mac pro (Late 2013 model) is caught between the two companies. Since this has gone on for one year, I don't have any confidence the problem will be resolved. I would suggest that you either sell your new Mac Pro and either purchase an iMac (I have seen no reports of the problem on an iMac) or move your video production business to FCP X. I can tell you that I find FCP X to be incredibly stable, easy and fun to use, and capable of anything that can be done in Premiere Pro CC (and then some). You will, however, have a learning curve best addressed with excellent training from a number of sources that will be well worth your effort. I will further add that because of these continuing reports of problems using Premiere Pro CC on the Mac pro, I am strongly considering canceling my Creative Cloud subscription. It is ridiculous to pay $600 a year and not be able to use Adobe software on The 2013 Mac Pro.

I don/t have any personal experience with Premier Pro CC on The Mac Pro using either the D500 or D300 cards. I read in the threads on using the Mac Pro 2013 model with Premiere Pro CC that early in the history of this issue (say June 2014) there were a few people who suggested the D300 and D500 cards were less apt to show the problem than the D700 card. However, shortly after that idea was presented, others posted that they were having the exact same glitches when rendering or playing back with the D300 and D500 cards.


One more thing that is interesting. There are numerous reports that DaVinci Resolve produces glitches on the Late 2013 Mac Pro when rendering. Again, I cannot personally confirm this as I use DaVinci Resolve very little. However, I have seen multiple reports of such problems on various forums and had those confirmed by a respected and well-known Apple training individual.


All of this is a great shame, and I really wish that Apple and/or Adobe would officially comment on these issues. It is a black mark on what I truly believe is the finest computer, i.e. the Late 2013 Mac Pro, that Apple has ever made.

Having this issue as well with nMP and Adobe CC 2014.


Utterly mind boggling...adding this to an ever growing list of disappointing issues with Apple.


I laughed when people lamented Steve's passing and how it might affect the new Apple's QC but am laughing less every day...


Please do something about this Apple. It's EMBARRASSING for you...

You have no idea what you're talking about, so kindly don't share any fanboy enthusiasm with me. This *very well* documented issue regards nMP GPU's overheating (managed entirely by Apple hardware and OS X) and rendering artifacts into video. Use of smcFanControl helps - a little, as has replacing the GPU's with brand new cards - both indicating an OS and / or hardware level issue...yet the problem still persists. After 2 years Adobe has essentially thrown up its hands and says firmly that Apple is in control of Open CL / GPU heating issues and there's nothing more they can do.


So I'll say again, WHEN is Apple going to address this long standing and show stopping bug?

If you are having a reproducible problem with your GPUs overheating, you will need to present yourself and your computer at a genius bar appointment at an Apple Store. Or at your Apple-Authorized Service provider.


There is no acknowledged systemic problem with these Machines, and at this writing, any problems you encounter are being treated as a "Sample Defect" -- a problem that occurs in your system , not in every system.

Clearly Apple feels differently as they've replaced MANY GPU's towards remedying the issue - but to no avail as doing so helps but doesn't completely solve the issue.

This should be *wildly* embarrassing to both Apple and Adobe but am guessing that public admission of the issue could lead to a very expensive recall hence it's being swept under the rug / addressed behind the scenes.


Perhaps you might wish to inform yourself further by reading the respective Adobe and Apple threads since you're so interested in the issue?

If you wish to read and write articles about what may be happening to your or other people's Macs, you are welcome to do so. But that is not what gets your Mac working.

That is because some owners did as I suggested, and presented themselves and their equipment at the genius bar. Anything that can be reproduced can be fixed. Attempting to solve what you perceive as a systemic problem before Apple acknowledges it may be a systemic problem is not likely to fix your system (or anyone else's system).
