Why is my Photo Delete option greyed out?

MacBook Pro / iPhone 6 plus

I went to iTunes>iPhone>Settings>Photos and it says iCloud sharing is on. There is no checkbox for Auto Sync to turn on or off as suggested by an older post. I am trying to delete photos while in Photo on my laptop, but the delete option is greyed out.

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.6.2), NEW

Where is the "select all" option. Or are you swaying I have to tap my screen 1000times or more? To select the photos to delete?

It doesn't work. It is greyed out and command+A does not work.
