Import from Photos library to Powerpoint

I am having difficulty importing a photo from the new Photos library into a powerpoint presentation.

In powerpoint, I go Insert -> Picture from file -> Pictures but the Photos Library is greyed out.

Any thoughts?

I had no trouble with iPhoto: copy photo and paste into a Powerpoint slide and that was it. With the new Photo, this does not work. Neither can I drag a photo from a Photo album and insert into a Powerpoint slide. It does not stay on the slide by goes back to the album. (APPLE and MICROSOFT GENIUSES, ARE YOU READING ALL OF THIS)? What you need to do is cumbersome, but: drag the photo onto your desktop; and then you can drag it again onto a Powerpoint slide. Either I am not doing something correctly or they messed up a good application. Also, when an application is changed/"upgraded", why are there no explanations on how to use it? It's ridiculous.

Thank you for your reply, and LarryHN also. Unfortunately this issue has only happened after updating my MS Office Suite to the most recent version. When I go to the media drop down, only Photo Booth photos show. I find the desktop workaround slow. I might go write some feedback to MS then 😉

Well - after reading the MS forums - it seems they think it's an Apple problem. This is very frustrating. I'm running Yosemite 10.10.5, and Office 2011 version 14.6.2 - do you think it would make a difference if I bought the upgrade to Office 16? Thank you for any advice.

That's not the up-to-date version of Powerpoint...

I appreciate you replying, but I don't find that very helpful at all, only elusive. I updated my Office package only a few hours ago, so it is the most up to date version of 2011. If you mean that Office 2016 is the most up to date, that's what I was asking in my previous comment - do I need to pay for the upgrade to fix this issue? Thank you.

You need an up-to-date version not one that dates from 5 years before Photos was released.

Wow. You could have used your far superior knowledge of this topic to help me out with a direct question that I asked three comments ago - instead you've been smug and made me feel like an idiot. Thanks a lot. A simple "you will need the 2016 version" would have sufficed.

I managed to solve it by doing the following:

Export the Photo to JPEG
Save it in the dedicated folder
In Power Point, insert the picture from the folder like inserting normal picture i.e. Insert -- Photo -- Picture from File -- choose the intended picture you just saved.

DONE..!!
