Having so many problems sharing photos on Facebook

If you have an up-to-date version of Aperture you can run it on EL Capitan.

Apple didn't "replace" Aperture with anything. They just stopped making serious photography software. You don't replace an $80 app with a free, giveaway. There is nothing in Photos for a serious Aperture user. If you want anything approaching the features of Aperture then you need to buy a 3rd party app - LR, Capture One etc.

Appears my issue is different than those posted here. I USED to be able to, in a FB discussion, click on the camera icon ... have the finder window open ... select a picture from an album I had stored on my Mac and post it TO that discussion. I CAN do it within iOS but NOT SO from OS X. What's the deal? I was told by the super tech from Apple that I needed to get my 3000+ pictures into OS X Photo as using the old finder window albums would soon no longer work in iOS. Did that but NOW Photo appears to be USELESS for a onesie-twosie posting of picts into most any online application. Solutions?

i feel your pain. So apps work well with the Photos library, some do not. I just tried to access Photos from Facebook on Safari by clicking on the camera icon , then picture folder, and finally on the Photos library icon. I got the spinning rainbow wheel for about 10 minutes and then nothing. Apple needs to fix this . I've submitted it to them at least 12 times to them last year and I've asked everyone I know to submit it as well .

Until it is fixed, you will have to export the picture to a folder and select it for upload from there.

That's because you're telling Safari that you want to upload the entire Library package, not a photo.

Oh my gosh. You are correct! The media section on the left was off screen. There were no visual indicators that there were more options that I could scroll down to see it. So unless you know it's there, you'll miss it. I scrolled down on the left side and found "Media" underneath "Tags". it works just as you stated.

Why you would I have no idea, nor care. My response was;t to you. But, to clarify, that's not the Finder and it might help you notice other features of the OS. You can expand them after, you know, it's not a permanent condition.

Just ran into the FB 50 limit and had previously slammed into not being able to create albums.

But I would add one more thing, it says it uploads to the Timeline folder, but still always adds it to OS X Photos. It's a pain in the ***.

Honestly, to get photo sharing to Facebook (arguably the most used feature in a photos app) wrong at this stage in the game is inexcusable, doubly so considering they've had something mostly worked for years in iPhoto.

I'd be curious to see who'd argue that uploading to Facebook is the most used feature...

I think it's pretty clear if you read the thread (and original post), but regardless: you can't create new albums on Facebook when sharing photos, just select an existing one.

Furthermore: it (Photos) uploads to the Timeline album, but it (the photo uploaded) is actually in the OS X Photos album on Facebook

Reading your post on the iPhoto forum about the Photos app made it unclear what "it" you referred to. I wondered if you meant unable to create albums in Photos.

So, now we have one person arguing it's the most used feature, though offering no evidence at all.

The poster's statement was clear to me, I guess that I must be a master of reading comprehension.

Unfollowing this thread since it is clear the Apple is not going to fix .

My work around has been to keep some 'dummy' photos around and use to create a new album in Facebook using my browser. after the album is created , I can upload photos to it from Photos app. after that , I remove the dummy photo and proceed to update the photo captions and tag the people in them.
