Hi, i'm sure this must be simple but I can't find out how to do it?
It used to be really simple in iPhoto.
So yeah, how do you rename your photos/JPG's within the new Photos application?

As clearly answered in this thread that is not possible with Photos (and was not possible with iPhoto either) - you can export the photos with a different file name using the export options and use the exported photo
and you can set your cameras to use different fiel names so you can separate the photos by their file names - read your Canon manuals for specific capabilities and directions for your cameras

To what purpose would you change the filename. You may be able to do it in windows but providing a way to do something with no purpose is not simple, it's stupid.
So if Mac won't let you do it, it's stupid anyway. Thanks for thinking for me.
The mac wil let you change file names - Photos will not and t is not stupid at all - it is required by the database structure - if you want to chnage your file names then do not use PHotos - very simpe
