Can I use Names for a group of cells in Numbers

I have a list that when selected uses the content to define another list.

The first list is in cell B3 and the next list is defined by the following functions in cell B5 = INDIRECT(SUBSTITUTE(B3," ", "")

The text in B3 (Fruit) is the same as the names (group Fruit) in cell H2:H5 i.e H2 = Apples, H3 = Oranges, H4 = Plums & H5 = Grapes; then list in cell B5 will be list Fruit.

Hope this explained is clear.

Thanks in anticipation.

Missed the earlier "debate" about Numbers:)

Have you have noticed that every column in Numbers is a named range?

This feature becomes more apparent if you turn on 'Use header names as labels' in Numbers > Preferences:

And then...

Have a look at some of the templates (accessible from Template Chooser at File > New).

Or try an example like this:

... But you don't have to have 'Use header names as labels' turned on for columns to behave like named ranges.

Using a combination of small, discrete tables (rather than one big sheet as is common in Excel) and taking advantage of this built-in feature can be very powerful, more convenient than Excel for some things.
