new entries revert to "new event"

Just within the last few days, Calendar has begun consistently misbehaving. I create a new event, assign it to a calendar, fill in information such as time and notes. I close the editing window, the new title displays (I'm using Month View) for just a second, and then it reverts to "New Event," and everything I've entered is lost. Oddly, when I enter all the information a second time, it always seems to stay.

As far as I know, I haven't made any changes to my OS (10.9.5) or to Calendar (7.0), neither via their settings nor any other way. FYI, I'm using iCloud to sync between the calendars on my MBPro and my iPhone (4S, running 7.1.2).

MacBook Pro (13-inch Early 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9)

My experience is slightly different. If I create the New Event in whatever calendar originally opens (I have several, such as work, family, vacation), then the entry holds. It does not revert back to New Event. However, if I open a New Event, let's say in my "work" calendar, and I change it by selecting a different calendar, say "family," then after I save it the new entry reverts to New Event within about 2 seconds. So, for me the solution is select the proper calendar PRIOR to creating a New Event.

Is anyone else having the ADDITIONAL PROBLEM of edits to existing events disappearing, within 1-2 seconds of closing out of the entry? This is maddening.

Specifics: I go back to an event I created weeks ago. I change or add something. I close / click out of the event. 1-2 seconds later, the changes are gone -- the event reverts back to whatever was there before. This happens about 50% of the time, no seeming rhyme or reason to which events it affects. (This all is happening on my desktop iCal app, on a late 2013 MacBook Pro running OS X v 10.9.5.)

Apple, sort this out very quickly indeed please.

It's a silly bug, and whilst there might be an okay-ish work-around of saving it in default calendar and then updating, spare a thought for those with whom one might be sharing (multiple) calendars who now are prone to getting multiple alerts for a single entry, as we battle with the bug.

NOT GOOD ENOUGH RIGHT NOW.

Hi Hueyo,

I'm having this problem as well - for about the past week. At first I thought it was me just not saving things, or thinking I had put stuff in the calendar when I hadn't - thought I was going mad.

Have been entering a number of events this morning and searched for solutions and came across this thread. As per others, the issue only happens if I change the calendar when creating the event.

Hopefully Apple will sort something out soon.

Same problem here. I noticed this a couple of weeks ago with a lost appointment made on my iPad. Looked later on my office desktop and the appointment had reverted to "New Event". It seems to have been intermittent for it seems to have gotten worse in the last few days. It also happens when I use Apple Mail to create a new event from a date in an incoming email. This happens across 3 Mac OS 10.9 and 1 Mac OS 10.10 and 2 iOS 8.3 devices using the same iCloud account. APPLE please fix this!

iCal community: I have just spoken with tech support and to ensure that Apple take this up (if they have not yet done so - we cannot know), please consider the following actions:

1. As previously suggested by another member, contact your tech support and log the issue;

2. go to apple.com/feedback and select 'calendar' and submit feedback to let them know there is a bug in iCal. The more feedback we log here the higher up the list it might go.....

I agree,iIt would be great if a member of the Apple team could at least acknowledge they are aware of the issue and are working on it - I have also logged this as feedback to them.

Hey MAC SUPPORT, iCal is NO LONGER TRUSTWORTHY. I'm having exactly the same issue and it's new since about a month. I use iCal regularly for all, and it pushes through iCloud to 3 devices. Lately, on the MacBookPro and Airbook, it doesn't save the information, if you choose to assign it a project color first. It appears to save and then it reverts to New Event in a different timeslot, although it does retain the color assignment. The workaround to save in it's default first and then go back in to edit does work. But this complicates working with iCal and also is terrifying to lose an important meeting.
