Well, thank you for that rant, but there is absolutely no point in posting it here. We can do nothing for you. This is a user to user forum.
The needing to wait until your appointment time is not unreasonable, and we are all busy. You have to take your turn in this case.
Not sure what your experience was when you did go to your genius appointment, but if it was as bad as you feel it was, then you should be complaining to Apple. Your perspective of the experience is not the way that Apple would want to do business, so you need to make them aware of what happened. See the Contact Us links at the bottom of the page, and let Apple know about your experience.
Again, the rant has no place on this forum, as it is completely outside the purview of this Support Community.
Cheers,

Thank you! Very helpful. Can now cancel my appt at Apple :-)
My 6S+ had the same issue this morning – it was fully charged and I used it to check my emails. When I tried to read a book during my breakfast, I couldn’t turn it on. I didn’t have any issues with last two latest iOS upgrades so I’m sure it had nothing to do with iOS upgrades.
I tried everything I could think of to turn my phone on, including the suggestions I found from this forum, but nothing worked. After an hour or so of frustration, I finally gave up and decided to go back to Apple store since I bought it a little over a month ago.
Then the funny thing happened – my RX’s Bluetooth made a brief connection to the phone when I started my car (it lost the connection about a second later). So I checked my phone to see if it’s working and it turned on!!! And the battery was still 93% charged. I have no clue what happened but it’s working fine now.
exact same thing happened to me when using pandora and your recommendation worked. thanks!!
I am having the same issue! My iPhone 6 is suddenly turning off, even if there is a good amount of battery charge. If I simply let it down for some moments, and then try to turn it on, it works again. But it is very annoying of having it turned off suddenly, most of the times when you are in the middle of doing something. I've contacted Apple Support twice, but they do not seem eager to help - unless I accept the exchange program, paying for a replaced iPhone, what I consider to be unfair since this is clearly a product failure (not sure if software or hardware, but certainly its Apple's responsibility).
my iPhone 6+ is doing this. (iOS 9.3.1) I went to sleep with it plugged up around 20 percent battery and I wake up to find my screen black and unresponsive. Nothing working, tried resetting it, connecting to itunes, leaving it on the charger, and all other options have been exhausted. I'm taking it to the Apple Store today so we will see..this is ridiculous on apples part.
I'm having the exact same issue and this will be the second time my phone is having to go into the Apple Store since I bought it in December!!! If they can't do something to fix it tomorrow then I'm asking for a full refund because I need my phone for work purposes and can't keep giving it to apple for days at a time. It wouldn't even be as bad if they got you a temporary replacement. All the booking in to see an Apple Genius and waiting days to even get an appointment is ridiculous.
Rant over - If anyone has any idea other than those already suggested to stop it turning itself off every hour it would be greatly appreciated.
Purchased my iphone 6 new from Verizon in the Fall of 2015. Been running IOS 9.3.1 since it come out without any problems. Have not had any problems with my phone until today. Phone was dead this morning when I woke up. Ended up over sleeping because alarm I had set on my phone did not go off. I ended up holding the power & home button to get the phone turned back on.
The only reason I'm posting is because I read that someone's phone started working again after it seem to connect to BT in their car.
I use BT with my Pebble watch that I just got a few weeks ago. For the first time ever I put the watch on a charger over night in a room on the other side of the house instead of charging it next to my phone like I normally do, so my phone lost BT connection with my Pebble watch overnight well charging in the other room.
So not sure if a lost BT connection over night with my Pebble watch had anything to do with my iphone turning itself off or not, but thought i would mention it.
I'm just going to keep a eye on my iphone 6 for now as it has only shut off on it's own the one time so far. If it happens again then I may reset it as a new phone and see if that helps before I call Apple about warranty as I still have several months until my warranty is up.
I also started using the Apple Smart Battery Case with my Iphone 6 a few weeks ago, but I don't think the case has anything to do with my phone shutting down on it's own.
I baby my phone, it's never been dropped or got wet, but I wonder if my problem with it shutting down last night had anything do to with Blue Tooth.
Hi. I know this is an old thread but there are current replies so I thought I'd add one, as well.
I have the iPhone 6 Plus 64gb purchased in Jan 2015. Obviously out of manufacturer warranty and I do not have Apple Care or any other extended warranty.
Last night, around 8:30 pm, I got in my car, sent a text, then made an attempt to make a phone call (via my car's Bluetooth). The line was ringing and stopped because the phone abruptly shut down. Tried to reset with no luck. Got home, plugged it into the wall charger and still no response from the phone. At approximately 10:30 pm, I got a white screen with the Apple logo and was then able to unlock the phone long enough to send an email. Immediately after I sent the email, I plugged it into a different wall charger (and different outlet) for it to charge overnight. I get up this morning and I have an unresponsive phone once again. I've made several attempts at a hard reset and nothing has worked. Called Verizon technical support...no luck. Called Apple support...they did some troubleshooting (nothing more than hard reset) and then scheduled an appointment for me to take it to the Genius Bar. To say that I examined all efforts, I took it to the Verizon store as well. They tried two chargers and two outlets and no luck there either.
Is it likely a brick device, at this point?
My iPhone 6 + is plugged in to charge every night. This morning I found that the phone had rebooted sometime during the night. While entering my 4 digit code the phone froze. Got it back working briefly. Went to use an app and it shut down and restarted on its own. While in Message app the screen turned a two tone color the top 1/3 green and the bottom 2/3rd grey. Then shuts down and starts up again. This has happened multiple times. The phone doesn't stay on for long.
Any suggestions?
Same thing happened to my son's phone. I bought 3 iPhone 6's Jan 2015. A week ago my son who had %80 battery life phone just shut down. Called Apple did a bunch of pointless trouble shooting, nothing worked. Went to apple twice nothing worked. It's obvious that the phone is in great shape. Has been in a $80 life proof case since day one. No water damage. My son is 16yrs old. I have 2 other children my daughter 15 & my youngest 8 who is severely autistic. I'm a single mom & I get zero help from anyone. No child support, no welfare nothing. I'm a waitress & I work 7nights a week to provide for my children. I was never told about the extended apple care. I put a lot of money into these phones because my 2 older kids who pick up the slack with their little brother I just wanted them to have something nice & that they wanted. I need to be able to get ahold of my son case my youngest has a seizure or a meltdown. All apple can offer me is another phone for $300? It's May 11 and I haven't paid my rent yet. I thought apple products were the best. I did everything to protect them & keep them working well. I know it's a issue with iOS 9.3.1. I've read too much about it for it to not be a issue. So my only option is to sell the 2 working iPhone 6's I have and use the money to get us galaxy phones. Maybe not the newest one, but atleast they are good phones & aren't just going to shut off for no reason & then the company expect you to buy a new phone from them. Apple you guys have made millions. You should fix the phone if it's your fault. The sad part is even I was so proud that I have a iPhone. It was nice to have something nice for once. I feel like a idiot.
The first time this happened, my Lexus' Bluetooth somehow managed to pick up iPhone 6S Plus' signal -- although the actual connection only lasted about a second, I was able to turn on my phone without any additional issues. Then about two or three weeks ago, it happened again but this time around, the Bluetooth trick didn't work.
I bought Apple CarePlus but based on this thread, they may not be able to help so I Googled for another possible solution. AND... I found the one that worked for me from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SQazxgcSviQ&feature=youtu.be. The guy shows 3 different options you could try and the one that worked for me was the Option 2, "Hold down power button for 3 seconds, then hold down the home button until Apple logo appears." Try this before selling off your working iPhones...
Good luck~
I tried this...and everything else under the sun...but nothing worked. Genius Bar was no help. All they did was plug it into a charger and said, "It's not getting any charge so we can't run any diagnostics on it. You can get a new phone, if you want." They did no troubleshooting whatsoever. My phone has been kept in a case since January 2015 when I got it, never dropped, no water damage. VERY frustrating!!! I'm now the proud owner of an $850 paperweight!
Did "everything under the sun" include cleaning out your charging ports with a clean, soft toothbrush or a wooden toothpick?
Cheers,
GB
Sure did! Brand new toothbrush to ensure no water and/or other debris.
I'm chalking this up as a lesson learned to purchase some kind of extended warranty and Apple Care.
