Option to set watch face to Always On versus on Wrist Raise

Does anyone else out there wish the watch face would have a feature to set the display to be always on? From what I can tell the only options are Activate on Wrist Raise. The look of a watch face versus a black square would look a lot cooler also when I want to see the time I want to see it NOW...I know first world problem. I am assuming the battery life needs to be taken into consideration but if I choose to wear my watch for only 10-12 hours a day with the watch face display Always On, I would like the option to do so.

Hey Apple engineers can you make that happen??

I Bought my Apple Watch yesterday. I need to write the time down dozens of times per day. That's a lot of wrist flipping. Couldn't they have an option to always display the time in small font, lowest brightness? I don't think that would kill the battery. I've already shut down the HR monitor and activities monitor Hoping to prolong battery life. I may return this because I don't like the wrist flipping just to get the time.

There are lots of things Apple probably could do that they don't or won't. Submit your feedback here:

But, don't you have to raise your wrist to look at the time? That should activate it. Or, you can also tap the screen.

I don't know what the problem is, really, android wear watches have the same screen and they are on all the time, often still getting as much as 2 days to a charge. I also don't like the modern watch screens that are hard-to-impossible to see in bright sunlight. The color pebble Time 2 can much more easily be seen and it lasts for 10 days being on all the time. I wish one of the big manufactures (either Apple of Android Wear watches) would use the color E-paper screen that pebble uses.

As ePaper is a lot more limited in a number of ways, that doesn't seem very likely. Pebble made a choice early on to be less expensive and have longer battery life at the cost of, among other things, the kind of animation an LCD screen is capable of, richness of color, and rapid screen refresh. But, if the color Pebble suits you better, you should, by all means, get that instead.

I was intrigued by the recently announced Huawei watch (Android) which has most if not more of the features of the Apple Watch and yet can be set to "Alway On", which means that after a few minutes it switches to an "ambient" mode and shows only the time.

Many times I want to take a "sneak peak" at the time without being noticed by others. This is not possible with the Apple watch. It is annoying....

So, you can buy this new watch and/or submit your feedback to Apple.

Best of luck.

While I appreciate the feedback from IdrisSeabright, the snarky "then go buy the other watch" attitude is getting annoying. Lose the attitude.

It's not snark. It's perfectly reasonable advice. If the Apple Watch doesn't meet your needs, you shouldn't spend a lot of money on it. That's just foolish. Buy the tools that actually meet your needs, not ones you wish would meet your needs.

For those in the medical field (and others): There is an option to have the screen on for 70 seconds instead of the standard 15 seconds.

Watch app -> General -> Wake Screen -> Wand for 70 Seconds

That is supposed to leave the screen on for 70 seconds when you interact with an app by pressing on the screen with your finger. A simple glance by turning your wrist still will only leave the screen on for the regular few seconds.
