Option to set watch face to Always On versus on Wrist Raise

Does anyone else out there wish the watch face would have a feature to set the display to be always on? From what I can tell the only options are Activate on Wrist Raise. The look of a watch face versus a black square would look a lot cooler also when I want to see the time I want to see it NOW...I know first world problem. I am assuming the battery life needs to be taken into consideration but if I choose to wear my watch for only 10-12 hours a day with the watch face display Always On, I would like the option to do so.

Hey Apple engineers can you make that happen??

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in this discussion, but the Apple updated the wake time for Apple Watch. we now can keep the display active for 70 seconds.

Keep the Apple Watch display on longer. If you want the display to stay on longer when you tap to wake Apple Watch, open Settings , go to General > Wake Screen, then tap Wake for 70 Seconds.

That pales compared to the standards set by real watches.

It does, yes! 😁 But it suffices to measure the pulse manually for a minute or a quarter of a minute, which had not been possible before.

And makes it bit easier to observe the time during an experiment, when doing astronavigation, or similar. It is tedious to have to raise the arm again and again or to have to tap the display.

But the 70 seconds option is very expensive. I tried it a few times and had to charge my Apple Watch 1 every three hours! I'm using it only occasionally.
