using Photos in word doc
I have just updated Yosemite and for my delight, I have got Photos - nightmare. Does anyone know how to simply copy a photo and paste it into a word document or powerpoint please?

That is not (and never has been) the way to do this as it gives you a medium quality preview of the image - until MS provided a Word Update you need to either use the media browser in Word to access your photos or you need to export to a desktop folder and use in word from there

Thanks for coming back. But the media browser only appears to give access to photos in Photo Booth and importing photos from word does not give access to my iphoto library. Any ideas please?
I have Office 2008 and can only access my iPhoto library from Word using the Import ➙ Picture ➙ From File menu option and the Media browser.
I doubt if MS will update older versions of MS Office to be compatible with Yosemite so you'll either have to upgrade Office when a compatible version is released continue to export to the Desktop and drag and insert from there.
You can also continue using iPhoto. iPhoto 9.6.1 works with 10.10.3. If you have any version of iPhoto 9.x you can get the 9.6.1 version from the App Store by following the instructions posted by Terence Devlin in this post:

Re: Is Iphoto gone ? i want it back!
Recommended
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.
then go to part 2
or you need to export to a desktop folder and use in word from there
