multiplex error in iDVD? Can anyone help?

Hi, Ive been using iDVD for some time and its been great. Now I'm getting 'Multiplex Error' 'There was an error during muxing preparation (project conversion)'. I tried using my old spare Mac but its doing it on that too. On looking for advice I was told to remove the plist file. The only one I could find was 'version.plist' which i removed and then ran a problem checking thing on the Mac which came back with 'no problems found'. Im not very teccy - I'd really appreciate some clear advice on how to fix this. Thanks.

Harper,

What is the H,264 file? Did you use the Pro Res or the H.264 file with iDVD? (You should use the Pro Res file.)

So it looks as though the Disk Image was created correctly – without multiplexing errors?. The contents of the file are what you should expect.

When you double-click a disk image, it behaves like a storage device (say a hard drive). When you launch DVD Player it should play the video. Did it?

If the img is OK. you use Disk Utility to burn the physical disk. (Drag the img icon to the bottom left of the Disk Utility device pane. Select it and click on the burn button in the toolbar.

Do you mean like this? I keep having to go between two machines. The one I use won't let me reply to your posts. I keep getting an icon 'foxy something' come up and it jams. So I'm doing the work on the machine that I use for work and final cut and putting the screen shots on a USB stick and bringing them to another machine - jeez, these things are sent to try us!

Hello again. Im trying to get rid of what seems like a virus 'FoxyDeals' from my other Mac... just googled it - but thats whole new problem.

I can't communicate in this forum on my main computer because of this virus, but all my work is on the other computer. Im not having the best day. Ive tried so many different combinations, my head is spinning. Ive tried with both movies in iDVD. I will come back to you. Thanks for your continued support.

Thanks Tom - as you can see this has been a somewhat protracted situation.

Argh, these new Macs don't have enough USB ports! It seems because my super drive was plugged into a USB extension it wouldn't recognise it, it needs power and has to be actually plugged into the Mac. Right, lets see what happens now.

Im going back to a project I know has burned fine in the past - so will see what happens and then try the file I was having problems with again.

You will not believe, but after going through all the steps that they say here and in other forums, I tested other brands of DVDs. And I did, after experiencing Sony and TDK , managed to record using a brand: Imation.

Of course, does not mean that this brand will work with you, or yes, but try other brands, because I went through all these steps mentioned here, burned about 40 DVDs before I could finally write.

All the best, man.

PD: Are you doind that in a Macboook?
