Call History showing up on another iPhone

Hi,

Hopefully you can help.

I use my phone for business and we have noticed in the last few days that all of the calls I make and receive are appearing in my wife's iPhone recent call history?

I have hunted high and low in settings on both phones but with no joy.

It is only affecting calls i make, not the other way round? so i am not seeing calls my wife makes on her phone in my recent call history?

[Re-Titled by Moderator]

It is also not affecting text messages...

We are both using the same iCloud account but the inconsistencies above suggest its something more involved (or very simple!)

The slightly odd thing is that it only seems to do it when my phone is at home, i went out this afternoon and the calls made/received have not appeared on her history. so maybe its a wifi thing?...but...

I also phoned vodafone when i got home to see if they could help (they couldn't!) and that short dial number is also not appearing on her history?

Yes me is two separate people with different names, numbers and emails. Why would I create a separate accounts when we have had iPhones for 5 years with no problems before? This thread is on page 126 on my phone, that has been mentioned ad nauseum. I want the phones to work like they have the last 5 years.

I don't believe that is the problem for me. I had Verizon when I saw the problem with iOS 9 update. Now I switched to T-mobile and with iOS 9 and have the same problem. I did check the profile settings on my new account with T-mobile and every phone has different name assigned to it. According to Apple rep this problem is a result of iOS 9. I see many people posting well don't use the same Apple ID then or use the family sharing option. We use the same Apple ID for the sole purpose of tracking all four iPhones using the find my iPhone app. Family sharing will allow all family members to see each others location which we don't want out kids t see. Me and wife just want to see our kids location. If there is away to do this like we have for years previously until this new iOS update please let me know. Thanks for the help.

OK this is what I did and it fixed the issue for me. Got to settings, phone, calls on other devices. "allow calls on other devices" was turned off already on mine. So I turnd it on and it will bring up all the devices below that are signed into your icloud account. When i did this for some reaeon all my device were enabled (green button highlighted). So I turned all those devices off each. Then go to the top and turn off the main one "allow calls on other devices". When I did that it fixed this issue for me no more mixed call logs on all my devices signed into same iCloud account.

Ok the only solution for me (I tried iMessage, respond to other devices etc - no success) - I switch off the iCloud drive on my wife phone - I called Apple already.

We choose to have one ID. I am aware of fammylly otions etc. But having one ID is more connient for us and it is good to have this option. This recent bug appered in the last 2 months.

True, havin one ID can lead to some complications, but the iOS allows us to assign each devices with different ID - I use my phone number for my phone, My wifes for my wife iphone, my mail for the iPad etc. Thus I can reroute and organize all my devices under same Apple ID - it doesn't work for iMessage tough - I have to switch it off and use simple messaging.

It is not a bug. It is a direct result of your choosing to use them in a manner other than that which is recommended.

One iCloud ID per user. It's not just Apple's 'opinion' of how it's supposed to work...

Thank you so much GovtLawyer. This has finally solved the UNBELIEVABLY IRRITATING problem of recent call sharing between my business and my personal iPhones. I tried every solution on this tread, and then some others from elsewhere to no avail. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Also, to all the "High Level" posters who mindlessly chant "Stop sharing an ID", and worse, put people down: Thanks for wasting space on this forum. You were WRONG. And you caused harm by: a) Stating a FALSE policy. b) Confusing and dissuading customers from finding a solution. You were WRONG. And you know who you are. Please consider the harm you do when you mindlessly repeat non-help in the face of something that clearly was and is a problem (but finally there's acknowledgment that said problem exists and will be addressed.)

Sharing ID's is perfectly acceptable and in some cases required. Why in the world would I use different Apple IDs on phones and devices THAT I OWN? I wonder how extensive a use of media sharing and Apple TVs scenarios have you "Don't share an ID" bots even bothered with. I guess you folk got all your points answering stuff like "Hold down the home and sleep/wake buttons at the same time to take a screenshot! Have a nice day". Obviously the 'Level" system on these forums has lost most if not all of it's credibility, which is a shame for those people with high level scores who actually earned it by earnestly helping people.

People can only get points if the original poster in a thread awards them because they believe that the post has helped them.

Like you, we are also entitled to have our own opinions about what is the correct way to proceed on a particular issue. You are free to ignore or disagree with it. However, the histrionics about causing "harm" are just a tad over the top. Take a deep breath and calm down.

The bottom line is that no one here can change what Apple has done. We can (and have) provide suggestions that work under certain circumstances (the most successful being to turn off iCloud Drive). We can suggest that Apple appears to have intended an Apple ID to be used by one person and that sharing them can lead to a number of unwanted consequences. And we can suggest that, if you don't like what Apple has done, submit feedback. I don't actually see that any higher level people have suggested that an individual have multiple IDs, unless that is the only way you can find to stop sharing recent calls and that is an issue that is so important to you that nothing else will do.

Re-reading my post I realized that while I thanked GovtLawyer for the solution he found I never mentioned the actual solution to end recent call sharing between phones:

Open Settings -> iCloud. Turn iCloud Drive Off.

That's it. And after fiddling with it for an afternoon, I found you only need to turn it off on one phone sharing an ID if you have two. (If you more have more than two, just a guess but you'll probably have to turn off iCloud Drive on all but 1 phone)

Hope this helps some people avoid digging around too much in the thread to find an actual solution.
