Hi, So I have the Apple Watch Sport and it seems like the Maps app doesn't work. It's only a grid and no map.
I have reboot my phone and watch and that doesn't help. I also unpaired the two and then paired again and it still doesn't work!!
Does anyone have a solution for this??

I've had this problem for a few days. I was told to go into iPhone Maps App, select the 'i' and change the map to hybrid.
Doing this unlocks the maps on the watch. And it worked.

The way I solved this issue was by updating the Language & Region Settings in the Watch app on my iPhone. Now the maps are showing correctly. Hope it helps!
Does this issue only occur on non US English watches?
I can't believe that this issue has been going on for such a long time if US English version are also affected.
I just see a grid. no map when I follow your steps
Mine started working by selecting transit map (no transit system at my location) and then changing back to standard map. Spin the crown to change the map scale.
