AMD Radeon R9 M370X Struggling to play games (i.e. GTA V) - bootcamp

Ahh I solved this about a week ago. I had installed Windows 8, so I upgraded to 8.1. When I logged back into windows it showed a Radeon 8800M in my device manager. So I installed the BCA drivers while at the same time running the Windows Experience Index.

Go to command prompt

Type in Winsat formal

The screen flashed for me about three or four times. I checked back in device manager and it showed the Radeon R9 M370X. I'm not sure whether it was the BCA drivers, the experience index command, or both, but it shows up now.

Thanks for the update. I believe it's highly possible that it's a mix of Win 8.1 update and the BCA driver update since the BCA in the new MBP supports Windows 8 or higher.

Same problems here.

I have the latest 2015 macbook pro 15 with the 2.8gHz processor and 16gb ram with bootcamp running Windows 8.1.

My work colleague has the old 2013 macbook pro.

We both run this 3D software on our windows 8.1 partition and where as my 3D rendered x-rays (we sell x-ray machines) are jerky as ****, on his 2013 macbook, the graphics are smooth.

He's got the old nvidia gpu.

I've gone back into osx, got the bootcamp updates installed on a sandisk extreme.

Then have gone back into win 8.1 to see if the update makes a difference. No change. The graphic performance is still really bad.

I've tried all of the settings in the ati catalyst controller but it doesnt improve the performance at all.

I've checked device manager and it lists the correct graphics driver.

I've tried what others have recommended in this thread but still no joy.

How is my mates old mac rendering better 3D graphics than mine? Its so annoying.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

Installing multiple drivers in a cumulative fashion can cause files from previous versions to be left behind as orphans. Is it possible to re-install Windows and install only the BC Windows drivers and test?

ok. Have done again. (after about 4 hours of my life that i'll never get back again)

So the system is now totally clean.

I'm still noticing a significant difference in GPU performance on my macbook to my colleagues still.

Can see this bloody thing ending up in the bin 😟

It would be an expensive donation to the dust bin. 😉 .

I have got the same setup MacBook Pro 2,8 Ghz and m370x plus Windows 8.1 pro. And I have the same Issues. Any more graphical intense game runs for while smoothly on any resolution. But after a while der the Performance of the graphicard goese down to 50% and it starts to lag big time. After an other while the game is complet unplayable. I monitored the gpu throttling with GPU-Z. The best way to reproduce the problem is furmark. If you run the furmark Benchmark it take not even 2 seconds to decrease the 800Mhz to 400Mhz and lower. This Looks for me like a bca driver problem. I have opened a suport ticket. Could please all of you do the same? Maybe this gives apple a bit more pressure to do somthing against this performance problems.

I also talked already to Microsoft. They tell me all the time it is a driver problem.

At the guys who want to tell me furmark is no good example ...then please tell me why furmark is running without throttling on yosemite.

somebody from Apple Support wants to See my Windows 8.1 Loggs files now. They want to try to escalate to the macbook engineers. I feels like they really want to fix the problem. But now im waiting already for almost two weeks for an answer to make an appointment for that. What is the status of your support tickets ?

I had contact to the support today. I had to deliver my log files to them for analyzing. I hope they will find the problem and fix the drivers. They also told me that there are still not very much support tickets for this kind of issue. Guys please create a support ticke. They need to know that this is a very serious problem.

-AMD (They are trying to get my drivers updated. ..LOL 😉)

-Apple (An executive is in touch with me and he has recently asked for the configuration on which I am playing)

The most logical source to be contacted is apple (of course). Lets see when does this issue get resolved.

now I got the answer from apple that this is a gray zone wich they won't support. But theres no Argument for this ... I will talk to microsoft and AMD again to try to fix the problem. So as we can see apple wasn't the best way :/ . I don't understand this. I thought apple wants to have happy customer. That problem here is reason for me to move back to windows mashines.

I'm suffering from the exact same problem on the exact same machine. I triple checked my battery settings and adjusted my CPU performance parameters in msconfig as described in the video. I had thought my drivers were up to date because I reinstalled them through both Boot Camp and the AMD website, but upon running GPU Z, I discovered I was using the WHQL driver (14.502.1020.0 WHQL). How do I change the driver from the WHQL one to the Boot Camp specific one? Any other insight on the problem would be greatly appreciated.

1. Create a System Restore Point.

2. Uninstall the WHQL driver.

3. Delete the AMD Adapter.

4. Reboot.

5. Check if the OS did not put back the deleted driver.

6. Repair/Re-install the AMD driver.
