Lost all my Apple Watch Activity history after broken iPhone.

I’m in the same boat. Apparently it doesn’t matter to Apple. But hey my Fitbit surge hasn’t been used for over a year completely powered down dead, charged it up and good to go. And Guess what, my stuff all still saved on the Fitbit app, even after three full restored backups because of defective iPhone 6s Plus. Maybe I should have just stuck with my surge?!

The system is so arrogant, my phone completely crashed so I lost 2wk since backup, now I also have to lose 3wk of fitness data oof my watch, as I can't link with my phone without a reset, how fn ridiculous, typical apple, it's FMEA (failure mode and effect annalists) is bad, I must admit I'm trying to hit the apple watch move goals, but now just completely deflated as I have to wipe all previous achievement, Thanks Apple for building me up just to chop me down.

The SYSTEM is so arrogant? How about the USER who doesn't do more frequent backups? Apple makes it as easy as possible to do automatic nightly backups that there's no excuse for not using this feature. Talk about leading a horse to water...

This is precisely the reason backups are so important. Backups are the remedy for this, not an Apple Watch.

Storing health data in a backup requires the backup to be encrypted if you use iTunes.

Same here ...I replaced my iphone 6plus (did a back up like I was told) and restored it on the new one , after I paired my apple watch but......all my health and activity data are gone !!!!😕

this is unacceptable ....there must be a way to retrieve the data back and no I didnt click on the encrypted part😠

If you backed your phone up using iTunes and did not select Encrypted Backup, your data is gone.

Unbelievable, how Apple take care of your problems. The company knows about this problem more than a year and does nothing.

Apple provides a way to make sure your data is backed up. It's up to you to chose to use that method.

I did the same thing, I unpaired from the old phone, backed up icloud, then started up the new phone on that backup. I then paired the watch, select to restore backup data and yes the screen and apps are the same, but NO activity data is there. This is a serious bummer, I followed all of Apple's instructions, what happened?

I have the exact same problem. My phone's screen just died and I can not get my health data. It is right here on my watch but Apple designed this so that its not possible for me to get the data off the watch now. So if your phone dies the data is just gone. That is a TERRIBLE DESIGN APPLE. Come on, really, that's my data on my watch and you FORCE me to PERMINANTLY DELETE the data to get the watch to work again because you defective @#$@#$ iPhone you sold me died. Apple products are consistently getting worse every year. I used to absolutely love Apple products but if they continue losing quality I'm dropping the whole suite of products.

You mean the "terrible design" that lets you automatically make an encrypted back up every night? How is it Apple's fault that you didn't take advantage of that?

Just lost all of the history from my activity app. Absolute bummer. Haven't reset it at any time. It was there this morning and gone this afternoon. The only unusual thing I've done is use some work relates apps on my phone that require me to use a secure connection. Absolutely gutted. Shocking Apple, absolutely shocking

Like many others, I just lost all my health data too. I'm a longtime IT guy, done about everything, and this one burned me too. I think the other guy said it well, we use Apple stuff so we don't have to read all the fine print.

I would've appreciated some kind of heads up, or at least the option to store my health data unencrypted to my local PC. It's my data, it's my PC, give me that option.

Not sure how you racked up 68,746 points, but I can't imagine it was by berating everyone that disagrees with the process.
