Iphone 6: music starts playing by itself

Hi,

It started after update to iOS 8.3. Music on iPhone will start paying by itself when the iPhone is locked. I had it happened multiple times and can not figure it out what's causing it. Last time it was in my pocket at work and all of a sudden it started blaring out of my pocket during the meeting. It was quite embarasing.

Any suggestion how to stop this is greatly appreciated.

Turns out the problem is the earbud cord. The wires on the jack end had become pulled loose (internally) from the base and when the cord gets bent over by me moving around, the loose wires turn on the music or Siri comes on.

It is an obvious design flaw...the hard plastic piece needs to be longer so you don't use the wire to unplug the cord. I had to buy new earbuds but decided to go by Homedepot and buy a white heat shrink tube. (3/16-3/32" size) fit nicely over the jack. This now acts as a bend restricter and keeps the wires from being pulled out when I unplug.

I am having this same problem, music starting on its own. But sometimes my earbuds are in and most times they are not. I have no apps running in the background and the music still starts. I even signed out of Apple music and it still played!! I had to turn my phone completely off at church this morning just in case it happened again. Seems to happen 2 or 3 times a day and even in the middle of the night. Very annoying! I have a 6 plus iPhone and the IOS is 9.2.1

I think it's a bug in the software of the newest version of iOS, that's what I think.

iphone 6 iOS 9.2.1

my phone will randomly play music with no app. I can't even swipe the app off to turn it off. I have to go to the lock screen to turn it off. The last time it was sitting on the table, locked, no apos of any kind running because I had just killed them all. This is very annoying and it randomly comes on at the worst times. In meetings, when I'm sleeping, etc. This isn't acceptable.

Thanks

I Have a 6 plus and a 5s connected to the same blue tooth head set. After disconnecting from a call on the 5s, the 6plus will start playing music on its own. I have no music on the phone at all. It's playing sample music that is either streaming or its downloading on its own. Happens about 15 times a day. Only way to make it shut off is to shut off blue tooth headset and turn it back on.

So, this problem has happened to me a couple of times lately. I have an iPhone 6 plus. The iOS is current. I have the phone set up to work with a Bluetooth headset for work like ImKev above (the headset is also used for Business Skype calls, which is how I use it 95% of the time). I hung up from a Skype call today, and it immediately started playing one of my songs (stored on the iPhone) from the beginning very loudly - really hurt my ears. It has nothing to do with my charger, I did not have any ear buds plugged in, and only a few apps were open (and certainly none that have any linkage to the Music app), so the suggestions above are not my issue. This really has to be a software issue. Apple, while not the worst thing that could happen, it's certainly an annoyance and a bad user experience.

My music starts playing when I plug the phone into my charger/usb port on my Subaru stereo. The music app is not open. I have to open it and hit the pause, then close the app. I start listening to an MP3 attachment in an email, and after a minute it stops and the music app starts playing again, same song every time. Very annoying. If I'm listening to a podcast, it works okay, in that the music doesn't stop the podcast. But when I listen to the mp3 attachment in the email, it stops that app and plays music.

Can someone please answer this question????

This is a MAJOR flaw with iPhone software. It has now happened on two different version of the iPhone with multiple software updates. It's great to get new emojis, but fixing major operating issues such as this would be better.

Mine most often occurs when I am connected to my car's bluetooth in order to listen to GPS directions.....a song I have bought from iTunes or a podcast I have downloaded starts playing. (usually, Broken Bells "After the Disco," but sometimes Michael Jackson "ABC," both good songs and both of which I have heard the first 30 seconds of WAY TOO OFTEN).

As someone else on this forum noted, there is nothing that apparently can be done. All apps are closed. I even signed myself out of the "Music" app.

The only solace provided in this forum is that it's not just happening to me.

thanks for any help.

II'll add one more hitch to this issue:

my phone plays by itself as with all of yours, but it does it Bluetooth to my car as well. Nothing is plugged into the phone - no power, no headphones!

this happens BOTH when the books app is running in the background as well as when it is not. The issue continues in the new ios10 too!

even crazier, when my car's radio is turned off, the phone plays the book silently. I find it constantly having played 10 minutes that I have to scroll back. I have to stop it sometimes 6-8 times on a single car ride. This is causing me to have to take my eyes off the road. This issue is dangerous and needs to find its way to the front burner before someone gets into an accident. I can't have this thing playing books at random when I have clients in my car!!!!!!!!

My iPhone 6 did this last night twice, at 1AM and at 2:48 AM, woke me up twice, the second time I couldn't turn it off, had to shut the phone down, not good! It comes on at full volume, first time music, second time it was a talk show. I notice when I press an app icon a different app will open, it's getting worse every day! It's just sitting, all by itself on a table but has a mind of its own.
